Arnold Schwarzenegger Teams Up With MusclePharm® to Develop the Arnold Series, His First Line of Nutritional Supplements

DENVER, July 30, 2013 /PRNewswire/ —
MusclePharm Corporation (OTCQB: MSLP), a nutritional supplement company focused on active lifestyles, has signed a first-of-its-kind partnership with the Mr. Universe, Mr. World and Mr. Olympia title holder, actor, entrepreneur and former Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger. Schwarzenegger has won more world bodybuilding titles than anyone in history and has produced the popular Arnold Classic in Columbus, Ohio for 25 years. As part of the collaboration, MusclePharm will launch the Arnold Series, an exclusive line of new nutritional supplements developed by Schwarzenegger and MusclePharm‘s world-renowned scientific team.

The Arnold Series product line will initially launch with eight supplements supporting the four fitness pillars: performance, power & strength, nutrient support and recovery. It will be available domestically and internationally at health and nutrition stores as well as online retailers in September 2013.

“I’ve been on a crusade to promote fitness for more than four decades,” said Arnold Schwarzenegger. “That has led to the largest health and fitness convention in the world, six books, seminars all over the globe, and visits to all 50 states as chairman of the President’s Council on Physical Fitness. This vitamin and supplement line is the next step. After meeting with the MusclePharm team, learning about the company, and spending time with the founders, I knew they were the perfect partners to start a line of nutritional supplements and continue promoting fitness around the world. Their passion for sports nutrition and science fits perfectly with my mission to help everyone discover the benefits of health and nutrition. I’m excited to partner with MusclePharm on the exclusive Arnold Series and develop this line of nutritional supplements that not only carry my name but also represent my lifelong commitment to fitness.”

“Arnold is a bodybuilding, fitness icon who is and has been a personal idol of mine since high school,” said Brad Pyatt, CEO and founder, MusclePharm. “His philosophy of ‘where there’s a will, there’s a way’ inspired me during my NFL career and while starting MusclePharm. Arnold embodies everything the MusclePharm brand stands for; it’s truly a dream come true and an honor to create the Arnold Series nutritional experience with him.”

MusclePharm was founded in 2008 by former NFL player Brad Pyatt and just four years later was named “Brand of the Year” by Bodybuilding.com. MusclePharm develops and manufactures daily supplement regimens to assist consumers and athletes with muscle building, weight loss and general fitness. All of the products, including the Arnold Series, are developed by leading nutritional scientists via a six-stage research process at the MusclePharm Sports Science Center & Research Center in Denver, Colorado.

San Diego Demo Rep Wanted

A leading supplement company is looking for a demo rep in the San Diego, California area. A few things you should note before applying… The company is looking for outgoing, knowledgeable (teachable), responsible, and self-motivated, fitness-minded individual.

This is a paid demo position and NOT a modeling gig, nor does it lead to that. This is NOT a chance to get a sponsorship with the company, it’s simply doing demos of the products. If you are looking to become a sponsored athlete with a company, this is not the position for you.

san-diego

The position is available immediately. If you are selected you will receive a three day crash course/training and start immediately after that. The company will provide all the product and embroider shirts. You could potentially do up to 8-10 demos a month.

PLEASE only respond if you are in the San Diego area, available and qualified. Please provide a resume and 2-3 photos. All other emails will be deleted with no response. Thanks!

ESPN Films & ESPNw: ‘Let Them Wear Towels’

The third film, an ongoing series brought you by ESPN Films and ESPNw, “Let Them Wear Towels” explores the topic of female reporters in men’s locker rooms. The film, directed by Annie Sundberg and Ricki Stern, premieres July 16 on ESPN (8 p.m. ET).

let-them-wear-towels

Film summary via espnw.
Lisa Olson was just trying to do her job as a reporter for the Boston Herald in 1990 when a group of New England Patriot players sexually harassed her in their locker room by exposing their genitals and making lewd and vulgar comments. Even though a subsequent NFL investigation concluded that Olson had been “degraded and humiliated,” the 25-year-old continued to be tormented by Patriot fans — so much so that she temporarily moved to Australia to resume her career.

Lisa Olson’s legal case was one that helped pave the way for women to report without harassment in locker rooms.

The incident touched off a national debate about the presence of female journalists in the male sanctum of the clubhouse. That debate should have been settled 12 years earlier, when Melissa Ludtke of Sports Illustrated successfully challenged Major League Baseball after she was kept out of the New York Yankees’ locker room.

Why has equal access for women reporters remained such a hot-button issue? That question is asked in “Let Them Wear Towels,” a history and examination of females working in the man’s world of the locker room. Through interviews with such pioneer women as Ludtke, Claire Smith, Lesley Visser and Christine Brennan, you’ll hear stories of raw behavior and humorous retaliation, angry lawsuits and remarkable resolve.

2013 NPC Team Universe Preview

This weekend the NPC Team Universe & Nationals Fitness Championships will be held in Teaneck, New Jersey. The two-day event will crown sixty new IFBB Pros in bodybuilding, fitness, figure, bikini, women’s and men’s physique.

team-universe
The women’s bodybuilding division was dropped from this year’s event however that won’t hurt the number of entrants for this show. The Team Universe is one of the largest NPC shows of the year and a few winners tend to make an immediate impact in the pro league. Two winners from the 2012 class are great examples.  The overall bikini champion, Ashley Kaltwasser found her groove after finishing 10th at this year’s Arnold. She’s earned two victories and will be competing at the Olympia where she could finish in top spots. Natalie Planes took top honors in her pro fitness debut at the Pro World Championship. Who will lead the way out of this year’s graduating class? We’ll find out this weekend in New Jersey.

Use the hashtag #TeamU on your social media posts. This will help everyone follow the action around the event. Good luck to everyone competing and for complete coverage visit npcnewsonline.com.

Popular clothing company, Lululemon Athletica Inc has been hit with a lawsuit in the US. The lawsuit contends that company founder Dennis Wilson hid defects in the yoga pants, which resulted in part from cost-cutting.

(Reuters) – Lululemon Athletica Inc has been hit with a U.S. lawsuit accusing it of defrauding shareholders by hiding defects in yoga pants whose sheerness led to a costly recall, and concealing talks that led to the sudden departure of its chief executive.

The lawsuit in the U.S. district court in Manhattan was filed by a shareholder on Tuesday, three weeks after Lululemon (LULU.O) Chief Executive Christine Day announced her surprise exit after 5-1/2 years at the helm, calling it a personal decision.

It is separate from a May lawsuit filed in Delaware Chancery Court that accused Lululemon directors of boosting possible executive bonuses just before the recall.

Lululemon did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

Day stepped down three months after the athletic wear retailer recalled women’s yoga pants containing its proprietary Luon fabric after determining the pants were too sheer.

The Vancouver, British Columbia-based company has said that recalling the stretchy, snug-fitting black pants could reduce profit this year by up to $40 million. It returned the pants to store shelves last month.

Lululemon has long been known for clothes that could withstand many years of wear and washes.

Tuesday’s lawsuit was filed by Houssam Alkhoury, a Natick, Massachusetts, resident who had bought 7,500 Lululemon shares.

It contended that Lululemon, Day, and company founder and Chairman Dennis “Chip” Wilson hid defects in the yoga pants, which resulted in part from cost-cutting, and that the company was forced to sell them at a discount to preserve market share.

The lawsuit also said that before announcing Day’s departure on June 10, Lululemon concealed “serious discussions” about her job status and the potential to replace her.

Lululemon shares fell 17.5 percent on June 11, wiping out about $1.62 billion of market value, Reuters data and a regulatory filing show.

The lawsuit accused Lululemon of knowingly making disclosures, or failing to make necessary disclosures, that caused its share price to be artificially inflated, resulting in shareholder losses once the truth became known.

It seeks class-action status for shareholders between March 21, when full-year results were announced, and June 10.

Alkhoury is represented by Robbins Geller Rudman & Dowd, a specialist in shareholder class-action litigation.

The case is Alkhoury v. Lululemon Athletica Inc et al, U.S. District Court, Southern District of New York, No. 13-04596.
