Miesha Tate Upsets Ronda Rousey in UFC Cover Contest

It’s no secret that Ronda “Rowdy” Rousey is not a fan of Miesha “Cupcake” Tate. That’s of little concern to Miesha, at least in this event. Miesha’s fans cast more votes for her in the EA SPORTS UFC Cover Contest and she moves on to round two. The big story in this is that Miesha squared off against the UFC Women’s bantamweight champ who is also thought of as the face of women’s MMA.

In the eleventh hour, Miesha’s push on social media proved to be her best asset. Despite having nearly 223,000 fewer fans on twitter (Miesha currently has 147,142 to Ronda’s 369,983) she came out victorious.

Did Miesha even the score?

The two fought inside the cage before and Ronda prevailed by making Tate tap via her signature arm-bar. Lately, Ronda’s been getting a great deal of heat for the way she comes across on this season of the Ultimate Fighter. Boss man, Dana White doesn’t give a crap what fans think about how Ronda comes across on tv and noted that without Ronda he never would have brought women into the UFC.

Ronda and Miesha will fight again on December 28, 2013 at UFC 168. The winner of Rousey vs Tate leaves Vegas with the UFC championship belt. The winner of the EA Sports Cover Contest shares the cover with Jon Jones, the men’s 205-pound champion. Something tells me that while Rousey would have liked to be on the cover of the game, she’d much rather hold on to her belt in December.

Rest assure Ronda will be asked how she feels about losing this contest to Tate at the next UFC press conference / media event. We know how Miesha feels.
