RESULTS: Big Ramy & Bethany Wagner Win at the 2015 Arnold Brazil

2015 Arnold Brazil Results
RESULTS: Big Ramy Wins 2015 Arnold Classic Brazil & Bethany Wagner Fitness International Brazil

Things played out like we thought they would for the most part in the 3rd annual Arnold Classic Brazil and Arnold Fitness International Brazil. In the Fitness competition it was all Bethany. She won the physique round and the routine round to successfully defend her title. She becomes the first two-time Arnold Fitness International Brazil champion. Regiane was a distant third and rounding out the top three was Tanji Johnson.

Big Ramy went home with his first Arnold Classic Cup and won in unanimous fashion. The win has ignited the chatter on can he stand toe to toe with Phil Heath in September at the Olympia? He’s gaining ground but I wouldn’t put him in that conversation just yet. He needs to show consistency in his ability to bring a conditioned physique in more than just one show a year. He has time and tremendous potential though. The win was well deserved as he was the biggest and best on stage today. Cedric McMillan brought arguably his best look and it paid off with a second place finish. Just a few points behind him was Juan Morel who finished second in 2014 at this show but had to settle for third this time around. Victor Martinez was in fourth and the placings for fifth and sixth are still up in the air. Brandon Curry was announced in fifth but on the score cards (which were not added correctly) Toney Freeman was in fifth and not sixth. It’s a four thousand dollar difference between fifth and sixth place. Toney should have 52 points and not 58 as the scoresheet reflects. *An updated scorecard on IFBBPro.com reflects the correct scores – May 31, 2015.

She made the switch from Fitness where she didn’t fair well due to her overwhelming muscularity. She successfully made the transition in her Physique debut by winning in unanimous fashion. Sheronica Henton from Vine Grove, Kentucky edged out Orlando’s Danielle Reardon by one point for the second place spot. Leila Thompson finished in fourth and Lona Muttoni was in fifth. In the men’s 212 bodybuilding, it was no surprise that South Carolina’s Charles Dixon dominated the field. The line up for the 212 competition was not the most competitive but none-the-less Charles deservedly heads to the Olympia in Vegas later this year. This was his second pro victory in the men’s 212 bodybuilding division. The first coming by way of the 2014 Chicago Pro.

2015 IFBB Battle on The Beach Pro Results

battle on the beach results
The 2015 IFBB Pro Battle on the Beach took place in Daytona Beach, Florida and showcased women’s Bikini and Men’s Physique. It was one of the smaller shows and surprisingly so given the location of the event and sheer number of pros there are on the circuit now. Why so few showed up for this event is an unknown but what we do know is Noemi Olah will be headed back to the Olympia stage for the fourth time. Noemi, originally from Hungary and now living in Florida, squeaked past new-comer Shandy Ortiz by one point. Noemi’s first win was at the 2010 Detroit Pro, which seems like forever ago in the world of Bikini. Coming third was Catherine Radulic, also from Florida. Angeles Burke edged out Bianca Berry for fourth place. Berry has consistently been in the top five and many felt could have been a threat for the top spot at this show. Angeles Burke brought her best look to date and was rewarded for it.

Only three women competed in the Masters Pro Bikini and Beth Transue took the top spot with Michon Leddy in second.

The Men’s Physique competition only drew six pro competitors which is baffling but none-the-less Anton Antipov collected the win. Anton was coming off the first-ever Arnold Men’s Physique classic and locked in his spot at the Olympia. Matt Action finished in second with Andre Ferguson rounding out the top three.

Janet Layug Wins 2015 IFBB New Zealand Pro

Janet Layug continued her winning ways in the IFBB Pro Bikini division. Janet was coming off a win at the first-ever Arnold Australia and followed it up with a win at the 2015 IFBB New Zealand Pro Bikini competition. The event took place in Aukland, New Zealand. The win puts Janet in the driver’s seat heading into the 2015 Bikini Olympia where she’ll undoubtedly be the one to watch and have the best chance at dethroning Ashley Kaltwasser.

Governors cup
Maria Luisa Baeza Diaz scored her first IFBB pro win at the 2015 IFBB Governor’s Cup. She brought in a slightly tighter lower body that helped her lock in the win and an Olympia qualification. Maria’s look was the unanimous winner in the judges’ eyes. Coming in second was Wendy Fortino and rounding out the top three was Julie Mayer. Just two points separated Mayer and Fortino. Sheila Forjuoh from Houston, Texas took home fourth and Tamara Sedlack finished in fifth.

2015 Arnold Fitness International Results

Fitness International Results
The results in the Fitness International played out as most who follow the division thought they would go. Despite the somewhat expected results, that didn’t change the excitement of watching the routines.

The defending chap, Oksana Grishina brought another new performance to Columbus and demonstrated new ballet skills in her routine. She noted in a post-show interview that she was inspired by the movie Black Swann three years ago but held off on doing the routine. Adela Garcia, the all-time fitness winner, encouraged Oksana to perform the routine. She taught herself ballet and the hours of hard work paid off. Her routine wasn’t the biggest surprise. She moved all the way up to win the physique round and not just win but did so with a unanimous score. The pair of perfect scores earned her the title for the second year in a row.

Tanji Johnson had a great showing and finished in second. She was in third going into the routine rounds and actually finished fourth in the routine round. Coming third, which was a bit higher than I thought she’d finish, was Regiane Da Silva. Regiane was fourth in the physique round and tied for second in the routine round. Bethany Cisternino struggled a bit with her routine and I think it cost her at least one spot. She was in second heading into the night show but had to settle for fourth. She was sixth in the routine round. Michelle Blank brought her best physique to the stage and nailed a solid routine to put her in fifth. An impressive comeback after she injured her foot last year at the Arnold. Myriam Capes moved up in the standings with her routine round but it was just enough to put her into 6th place.

2015 Arnold Figure International Results

Figure International
In a bit of a shock to those who follow the Figure division, we had a bit of an upset tonight. Candice Keene was going for her third title but instead finished in third place. Winning the 2015 Figure International was Colorado’s own Camala Rodriquez and not just win but did so with a perfect score. Candice Lewis, also from Colorado by way of Arizona, moved up into second. This was her best showing at a major show. Candice Keene wasn’t at her best and the judges dropped her into that third place spot because of it. Just on the outside of the top three was rising star Latoyra Watts. Ann Titone rounded out the top five. Tied for sixth was Heather Dees and Genn Strobo but ultimately Strobo won the tie-breaker.
