2015 IFBB Miami Muscle Beach Pro Competitors

This weekend the IFBB Men’s Physique and Women’s Bikini pros will be back in action. If it seems like there’s a pro show every weekend, it’s because there is and often more than one. The 2015 IFBB Miami Muscle Beach Pro is a first time show and will be held in conjunction with a NPC event. In the women’s Bikini competition you have to look to India Paulino as the favorite. You can never rule out Noy Alexander to be a contender in a show like this. Tatiana Koshman is currently in the mix with the Olympia Point Series and would love a win to take the pressure off from qualifying. Matt Acton and Vincent Fiore will be the ones to watch in the Men’s Physique competition.

The Olympia is the show of shows in the world of bodybuilding and fitness. Only the best of the best can compete in the Olympia. 2015 IFBB Edmonton Pro Show Cancelled

edmonton pro show
Yesterday it was announced that the FIBO Power Pro show was cancelled and today we learn there’s yet another show removed from the IFBB Pro League schedule. The IFBB Edmonton Pro was slated to feature Men’s Open Bodybuilding, Men’s 212 Bodybuilding, Men’s Physique, Women’s Physique, Figure and Bikini on April 17-19, 2015. A hefty undertaking to put on a show that big on top of an expo. It appears the promoter, Rick Knight bit off more than he could chew. The show has been removed from the IFBB Pro League schedule without notice or warning. Kind of a kick in the arse to competitors who were prepping and fans who were planning on attending the competition.

The show was being promoted on social media up until a couple of months ago. IFBB Pro bodybuilder Justin Compton his experience related to the show on MuscularDevelopment.com‘s forum, “I think the Edmonton show is cancelled as well. I reached out to the promoter several times before even doing the arnolds and he didn’t even respond to my emails. After Australia I even asked for a contract since it says to inquiry on the website and I still never got a response.” Others have noted they asked for contracts (required in order to compete in a pro show) but did not hear back.

When visiting the official site for the event (edmontonproshow.com) you’ll find nothing but the message below.

no go for pro show

We’ve reached out to the promoter for an official word but have yet to hear back.

2015 IFBB St. Louis Pro Competitor Lists

2015 IFBB St. Louis Pro Competitors
This weekend in St. Louis, Missouri the IFBB Pro Bikini, Women’s Physique and Men’s 212 Bodybuilders will compete for the coveted Olympia qualification. The one to beat in Bikini will likely be Sarah LeBlanc and the top five is a coin toss as to who ends up in there. The Women’s Physique competitor list is pretty stacked and there’s no odds-on favorite for the top spot. The line-up for the Men’s 212 bodybuilding is fairly lackluster and it should be Charles Dixon’s show to lose.

2015 IFBB Pro Battle on the Beach

This weekend in Daytona, Florida the women of the Pro Bikini division will be back on stage. The winner will punch their ticket to the 2015 Bikini Olympia in Las Vegas later this fall. The show will take place on Saturday, March 28th and surprisingly there aren’t many competitors signed up to compete. That may change before show time but as of now there are only 8 Bikini Pros and six Men Physique competitors signed up. Considering the number of new pros there are each year you’d expect to see 20 or more competitors in a bikini competition. Let’s hope more sign up before show time.

Look for Bianca Berry and Noemi Olah to be your top two in this lineup.

2015 IFBB Governor’s Cup Pro Figure Results

Governors cup
Maria Luisa Baeza Diaz scored her first IFBB pro win at the 2015 IFBB Governor’s Cup. She brought in a slightly tighter lower body that helped her lock in the win and an Olympia qualification. Maria’s look was the unanimous winner in the judges’ eyes. Coming in second was Wendy Fortino and rounding out the top three was Julie Mayer. Just two points separated Mayer and Fortino. Sheila Forjuoh from Houston, Texas took home fourth and Tamara Sedlack finished in fifth.

Tamara Sedlack of Corona, California won the Master’s Pro Figure competition.

2015 Arnold Australia Results

2015 Arnold Australia
2015 Arnold Australia Pro Results: Camala Rodriquez continued her winning ways with the Arnold Australia Figure title and Janey Layug won the first-ever Pro Bikini at the 2015 Arnold Australia Pro. This event was previously called the Australian Pro but switched to the Arnold Australia. Dexter Jackson won the men’s open and nearly didn’t make the trip down under due to VISA issues.

FIGURE 411:
Camala Rodriquez was coming off a win at the Figure International in Columbus, Ohio and with this victory puts her in a top contender spot heading into the Olympia later this year. The only other leading lady in Figure who was absent from this lineup was Nicole Wilkins. Candice Keene improved by one placing from her Columbus showing and Candice Lewis dropped to third. Keene hasn’t been 100% on the money yet this year and it’s kept her out of the winner’s circle. Camala has improved and while her conditioning is there she could continue to bring up her quads a bit. Candice Lewis has cartoon like features with a tiny waist and boulder shoulders. She’s improved the conditioning in her legs and arguably looked her best ever at this contest. Just two points separated Keene and Lewis. Strobo moved up into the fourth place spot with Watts slipping to fifth. Latoyra continues to be a consistent contender for the top five in every show she enters. Rounding out the top six was Dana Ambrose who also continues to bring an improved look to the stage. Ann Titone did not make the trip to Australia.

Figure Prejudging:

We just can't 'figure' out who's gonna take this one home, what do you think?! #arnoldclassic #arnoldclassicau

BIKINI BREAKDOWN:
Many thought it would happen in Columbus but it took one more week for Janet Layug to upset Ashley Kaltwasser for the win. Janet took the top spot at the Arnold Australia and you’ll have a tough time finding anyone arguing with that call. Don’t be surprised if you see Janet run the table from here on out this year in every show she wins. She has the body, presentation and looks to win every show she enters. Ashley brought what Ashley always brings to the stage. Ashley needs to improve her stage presence, namely walking in heels. If you watch Janet and then watch Ashley it’s like night and day. Just one point separated the two for first and second though. Rounding out the top spots were India Paulino, Stephanie Mahoe and Narmin Assria.

Arnold with the winner, Janet Layug…

The results from the men’s show were pretty much like we saw in Columbus. Brandon Curry moved up into the top five and Roelly Winklaar ended up in sixth where it could have gone either way in the earlier comparisons. Dexter continues to defy the odds at age 45 and shows the young bucks how being smart with your training can lead to a long-term, profitable career.

Wings of Strength Goes Big with New Pro Show

Phoenix Pro show
Wings of Strength has been a a strong supporter of women’s bodybuilding since their inception. Wings of Strength was founded by Jake and Kristal Wood in in 2011. They describe their mission as wanting to ensure there are “meaningful stage opportunities for women to compete in bodybuilding pro shows.” Wings of Strength is a membership website that reinvests “100% of the website proceeds” back into sponsoring pro shows.

The group started by sponsoring the Tampa Pro and Chicago Pro. Last year they added their name to the Omaha Pro. They’re also a sponsor of the Toronto Pro show. Essentially any show outside of the Olympia they’re the title sponsor. The Ms. Olympia was not part of the 2015 IFBB schedule and based on the recent announcement from Wings of Strength it doesn’t appear to be coming back.

Wings of Strength announced they would be adding their sponsorship to another pro show and this one will offer big prize money for the female bodybuilders. The new pro show will be called the “IFBB Wings of Strength Rising Phoenix World Championships”. Yes, a bit of a mouthful. The winner will receive $50,000 and a new vehicle. The type of vehicle has yet to be determined but a car on top of fiddy grand is pretty legit. Second place is solid too with a $25,000 payout. The Rising Phoenix pro show will use the same point series as the IFBB Pro League uses for the Olympia.

Along with the new show announcement, Wings of Strength announced legendary bodybuilding Lenda Murray will be their official spokesperson. “We think Lenda Murray is the perfect representative for women’s bodybuilding,” says Jake Wood, co-owner of Wings of Strength.

2015 Arnold Fitness International Results

Fitness International Results
The results in the Fitness International played out as most who follow the division thought they would go. Despite the somewhat expected results, that didn’t change the excitement of watching the routines.

The defending chap, Oksana Grishina brought another new performance to Columbus and demonstrated new ballet skills in her routine. She noted in a post-show interview that she was inspired by the movie Black Swann three years ago but held off on doing the routine. Adela Garcia, the all-time fitness winner, encouraged Oksana to perform the routine. She taught herself ballet and the hours of hard work paid off. Her routine wasn’t the biggest surprise. She moved all the way up to win the physique round and not just win but did so with a unanimous score. The pair of perfect scores earned her the title for the second year in a row.

Tanji Johnson had a great showing and finished in second. She was in third going into the routine rounds and actually finished fourth in the routine round. Coming third, which was a bit higher than I thought she’d finish, was Regiane Da Silva. Regiane was fourth in the physique round and tied for second in the routine round. Bethany Cisternino struggled a bit with her routine and I think it cost her at least one spot. She was in second heading into the night show but had to settle for fourth. She was sixth in the routine round. Michelle Blank brought her best physique to the stage and nailed a solid routine to put her in fifth. An impressive comeback after she injured her foot last year at the Arnold. Myriam Capes moved up in the standings with her routine round but it was just enough to put her into 6th place.

2015 Arnold Figure International Results

Figure International
In a bit of a shock to those who follow the Figure division, we had a bit of an upset tonight. Candice Keene was going for her third title but instead finished in third place. Winning the 2015 Figure International was Colorado’s own Camala Rodriquez and not just win but did so with a perfect score. Candice Lewis, also from Colorado by way of Arizona, moved up into second. This was her best showing at a major show. Candice Keene wasn’t at her best and the judges dropped her into that third place spot because of it. Just on the outside of the top three was rising star Latoyra Watts. Ann Titone rounded out the top five. Tied for sixth was Heather Dees and Genn Strobo but ultimately Strobo won the tie-breaker.

Arnold Fitness International Preview, Predictions & Poll

Fitness International
The 2015 Arnold Fitness International will take place this weekend in Columbus, Ohio. The Fitness International competitors will earn the most money out of all of the female divisions and rightfully so. The women of fitness are tasked with not only being in top shape for the two-piece round but also perform a routine. Their routines aren’t just dancing around and doing a few jumping-jacks. Oh no, the women of the Arnold are some of the elite fitness competitors in the world.

The defending champ, Oksana Grishina will be back and one thing you can always count on from her is a passion filled routine. Oksana doesn’t just go through the motions when it comes to performing her routine. Key word here is performing. The hours of routine practice show in her performances. She usually fairs well in her routines but its the two-piece round that could hold her back from another title. She’ll face another Fitness International champion this week, Tanji Johnson is back and looking to regain the top spot. If Tanji is in shape, and I have no reason to believe she won’t be, she’ll be in the driver’s seat heading into the routine round. Then it will come down to Tanji performing a clean routine whether she takes the top spot again or not.

Don’t sleep on Bethany Wagner-Cisternino. Bethany has the best physique in Fitness and look for her to take the top spot in the two-piece round. If she nails her routine she could also give the champ a run for her money. Of course you can’t rule out Regiane Da Silva who leaped into the third place spot at the 2014 Olympia. Regina’s routines will leave you exhausted just watching. Those are my top four competitors and then after that it gets dicey.

Read the full Fitness International preview on Bodybuilding.com. Cast your vote for who your think will take the top spot in the 2015 Fitness International. If you can’t make it to the finals to see these incredible routines you can watch it live and FREE on bodybuilding.com.

Arnold Figure International Preview, Predictions & Poll

2015 Arnold Figure International
The 2015 Arnold Figure International Preview, Predictions & Poll on hardbody. Will Candice Keene win the Figure International again or someone else dethrone the champ? Candice Keene will tie the Figure International record with three wins should she take top honors this week in Columbus, Ohio. Jenny Lynn and Nicole Wilkins both won the Figure International three times. She’s taken the top spot the last two years and is poised to collect a third title in just a few days.

It won’t be an easy win for her as she’ll have some tough competition with new-comers like Latorya Watts and Cydney Gillon. The usual suspects Camala Rodriquez, Candice Lewis and Ann Titone will look to give the champ a run for her money as well. Heather Dees took some time off at the end of last year and if I was a betting man, I’d say she’ll be back better than ever. My sleeper pick that many many not see coming is Latorya Watts. She has an incredible physique and if she looks anything like she did at the Olympia she could be standing in the first callout being compared for the top spot.

Arnold Women’s Physique International Poll, Preview & Predictions

Arnold Physique International

This year the Arnold Sports Festival has added the IFBB Pro Women’s Physique division. Many of the women are familiar names to those who follow the division. The inaugural Women’s Physique International will likely be a repeat of what we saw at the 2014 Women’s Physique Olympia. You’ll likely see fan favorite, Dana Linn Bailey standing next to the genetic wonder girl Juliana Malacarne. Dana Linn Bailey, or DLB as she’s known to her thousands of fans, won the first-ever Women’s Physique Olympia. She finished in the runner-up position to Juliana Malacarne last year. In 2013, Juliana was too big and too muscular for what the judges were going for. Last year, she brought a smaller and more streamlined look and the judges rewarded her for it.

While those two women will likely be the last two standing, don’t count out Tycie Coppett. Tycie is one of the taller women in the division and with that has to enter the show with more muscle than the other women to fill out her tall frame. I like the look she brings to the stage and wouldn’t argue with her taking the top spot. She’s that good. I don’t see anyone shaking up the top three but you never know what will happen until show time.

Cast your vote for who you think will win the the Arnold Women’s Physique International. You can read a full preview on all the competitors on Bodybuilding.com. If you’re unable to attend the Arnold you can watch a replay of the action on bodybuilding.com. There will be no live webcast of the event but there will be video footage provided after the show.

IFBB Pro League Women’s Physique will be held at the Arnold Sports Festival for the first time in 2015. Prejudging and finals will be held on the Arnold Fitness EXPO Stage at Noon, Friday, March 6.

2015 Arnold: Bikini International Preview, Poll & Predictions

2015 Bikini International

The 2015 Arnold Bikini International is just days away and he only returning competitor from last year’s top five is the champ, Ashley Kaltwasser. Ashley has been on a win streak since she last Spring but you have to keep your eye on the up-and-coming threat, Janet Layug. When the dust settles on Saturday night you’ll likely see one of them shaking Arnold’s hand and accepting the Bikini International trophy. Janet has the stage presence and stunning good looks to take the top spot and there’s never been a repeat champion in the history of the division, at least at this contest. Ashley has a more athletic physique and seems to be what the judges are looking for lately.

The field is stacked with first time Arnold competitors. Look for Stephanie Mahoe and Sarah LeBlanc to make an impact on the top 10. If I was judging, which I am not, I’d roll the dice on Justine Munro, Christina Strom Fjaere and Sara Back. The three of them have incredible bikini bodies and if they are at their best belong in the top spots. You can’t rule out former Bikini International Champ, India Paulino either. The judges will have their work cut out for them next Saturday in Columbus, Ohio.

Cast your vote for who YOU think will win the 2015 Arnold – Bikini International. Get a complete breakdown and preview of all the competitors on bodybuilding.com. If you’re unable to attend the Arnold Sports Festival you can watch the bodybuilding.com webcast free next weekend.

1. Janet Layug

I’m predicting it goes more like…

2015 Arnold Amateur Competitor Lists

Arnold AmateurThe 2015 Arnold Amateur Competitor Lists have been announced. The Amateur event coincides with the Arnold Sports Festival held in Columbus, Ohio on March 5-7th. Some of today’s leading ladies have competed in this event before they went on to the professional ranks. India Paulino finished in second at the 2011 Arnold Amateur and went on to be a top Bikini pro. In the same show (and same class) was an unknown bikini competitor by the name of Ashley Kaltwasser. Ashley finished in 14th in the 2011 event. The next year she won the overall amateur bikini title. Last year Ashley shook Arnold’s hand as the 2014 Bikini International champion. It’s a great reminder that ever pro was once an amateur and you have to start somewhere.

Which of these Arnold Amateur competitors could be the next top pro? We’ll find out in a just over two weeks.

Arnold Kids Fitness EXPO to Energize Columbus Youth
PARENTS AND KIDS CAN EXPERIENCE 28 SPORTS, ACTIVITIES IN ONE PLACE!
COLUMBUS, OHIO – The newest B-I-G thing at the Arnold Sports Festival in 2015 is a focus on kids ages 6 to 16 (and their parents) by providing a smorgasbord of 28 sports and activities at the Ohio Expo Center. And those age 10 and under will get in FREE.

“Each year we try to present a variety of sports and events to accommodate the many ways people choose to express their physicality,” said Jim Lorimer, who has partnered with Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger to present the Arnold Sports Festival since 1989.

“We created the Arnold Kids Fitness EXPO to give parents a great way to let their children experience literally dozens of sports and activities, hopefully helping them find one they wish to pursue.”

The activities and demonstrations available at the Ohio Expo Center during the Arnold Sports Festival and new Arnold Kids Fitness EXPO include: archery, ballroom dance, baseball, chess, Crossfit Endeavor, disc golf, equestrian, fencing, football, golf, gymnastics, hockey, hula hoop, Irish dance, jump rope, juggling, karate, lacrosse, pickleball, power and speed training, rowing, Scottish dance and bagpipes, soccer, table tennis, talent show, tennis, unicycle and zip line.

The relocation of several competitions to the Ohio Expo Center and the debut of several new events is the result of the closing of Franklin County Veterans Memorial, which hosted the Arnold Sports Festival since 1989. Arnold Sports Festival events, including the popular 900-booth Arnold Fitness EXPO, will continue to be held at the Greater Columbus Convention Center.

The Arnold Kids Fitness EXPO will be held on Saturday, March 7 and Sunday, March 8 at the Bricker Building. The event will feature demonstrations by the Columbus Blue Jackets, Columbus Clippers, Columbus Crew, Ohio Machine, Royal Arts Fencing Academy, Cyclone Gymnastics, Ohio State Chess Club, the United States Tennis Association and others. The non-profit Buck-Icon will offer football demonstrations featuring former Ohio State University football players.

The Arnold Kids Fitness EXPO will also feature a stage with two days of entertainment, highlighted by the by the Arnold’s Quest For Talent! Finals presented by Columbus Children’s Theatre from 1-3 p.m. on Saturday, March 7. Chris Kirkpatrick, of the band *NSYNC, will emcee the talent show. At 3 p.m. Saturday, a Chess Challenge Featuring Arnold vs. 8-year-old Emma Chang of Dublin, Ohio will be featured on the stage. (See Page 2 for complete Kids Fitness EXPO Stage Schedule).

In addition to the Arnold Kids Fitness EXPO, a variety of sports will be held in other buildings at the Ohio Expo Center, including Archery, Cheerleading & Dance, CrossFit Endeavor, Disc Golf, Equestrian, Pickleball, Table Tennis, XPC Powerlifting, and POWER X.

Inaugural Arnold Australia Competitor Lists Announced

2014 Arnold Australia
The inaugural Arnold Classic Australia will be held in Melbourne, Australia on March 13-15, 2015. The official list of invited athletes was announced today and the first Arnold Australia looks to be a star-studded event. The IFBB Pro League event will feature the Men’s Open bodybuilding, Women’s Figure and Bikini divisions. There will be a number of other events held in conjunction with the pro show along with an expo. Get your tickets and more information at www.arnoldclassic.com.au.

2015 Arnold Australia Competitor Lists

FIGURE 411:
Many of the competitors will be on stage at the Arnold in Columbus the week prior to this event. Look for Candice Keene and Candice Lewis to lead the Figure competition with Bethany Wagner-Cisternino potentially shaking things up. Anne Titone is sure to be a top six contender and if Camala nails her conditioning she should be in the mix for a top spot. Latorya Watts is also one who could sneak up into the top spots as she showed tremendous potential throughout the 2014 season. Add in Coates, Cowan and Dees and the top spots will be highly competitive at this show. Keene will be tough to beat but it’s anyone’s show when a long flight is involved.

BIKINI 411:
You have to figure it will be a bikini battle between Janet Layug and Ashley Kaltwasser for the top spot. After that look for Paulino and Mahoe to be in the top spots. Again, a long flight can throw a competitor’s game off so you never know who will benefit and who won’t from it.

MEN’S PRO BODYBUILDING 411:
The Men’s show is pretty close to the Arnold Classic line up in Columbus. Watch how things play out there and look for them to be pretty close to the same in Australia. The smart money is on the seasoned vet, Dexter Jackson but young bucks like Compton and a hungry Curry could be nipping at his heels.
