Inspirational Videos – How great are you?

Typically, when an ad comes up on a youtube video you click past it as soon as possible, right? We usually do however this ad, which is actually a quite lengthy video in the online realm, caught our attention. The visuals combined with the voice over from Muhamad Ali and Rocky are pretty inspiring.

The video that was shown as an ad showing scenes from http://www.spartanrace.com. Pretty cool images and video footage. The video title is Inspiration: Powerful Beyond Measure (how great are you?). Great question!

After doing a little searching it seems the audio originated from MOTIVATION – “Be Great, Powerful Beyond Measure” – Best Inspirational Video Ever [Original] on Youtube.

Regardless of which video you prefer there are some great quotes included. The audio includes clips from audio clips from Muhammad Ali, Rocky, and Coach Carter.

The transcript from Youtube.

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate, our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure, beyond measure.

Ima show you, how great I am.

Last night I cut the light off in my bedroom, hit the switch, and was in the bed before the room was dark.

Ima show you, how great I am.

Only last week, I murdered a rock, injured a stone, hospitalized a brick, Im so mean I make medicine sick.

Ima show you, how great I am.

This kids gonna be the best kid in the world.
This kids gonna be somebody better than anybody I ever knew.

Ima show you, how great I am.

I have wrastled with an alligator, I done tussled with a whale, I done handcuffed lightnin, thrown thunder in jail.

Ima show you, how great I am.

All you chumps are gonna bow when I whoop him, all of you, I know you got him, I know youve got him picked, but the mans in trouble, Ima show you how great I am.

But somewhere along the line you changed, you stopped being you.
You let people stick a finger in your face and tell you youre no good, and when things got hard, you started looking for something to blame, like a big shadow.
Let me tell you something you already know, the world aint all sunshine and rainbows, its a very mean and nasty place and I dont care how tough you are, it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it.
You, me, or nobody, is gonna hit as hard as life; but it aint about how hard you hit, its about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward, how much you can take and keep moving forward.
Thats how winning is done.

Cause if youre willin to go through all the battling you gotta go through to get to where you wanna get, whos got the right to stop you.
I mean maybe some of you guys got something you never finished, something you really want to do, something you never said to somebody, something.
And youre told no even after you pay your dues, whos got the right to tell you that, who? Nobody.
Its your right to listen to your gut, it aint nobodys right to say no, after you earn the right to be where you want to be and do what you want to do.

Now if you know what youre worth, then go out and get what youre worth.
But youve gotta be willing to take the hits.
And not pointing fingers saying you aint where you wanna be because of him, or her, or anybody.
Cowards do that and that aint you!
Youre better than that!

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate, our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.

It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us.

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.
Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.
It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us.
Your playing small does not serve the world.
There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you.
We are all meant to shine, as children do.
It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone.
And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.
As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate, our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.

All you chumps are gonna bow when I whoop him, all of you, I know you got him, I know youve got him picked, but the mans in trouble, Ima show you how great I am.

Ultra Endurance Athlete Rebecca Rusch Featured in Nikon Video

If you’re at all familiar with the mountain biking world, you’ve heard of Rebecca Rusch aka “The Queen of Pain”. She exemplifies what a HARDBODY female can be and has done so for years. She was named one of Outside Magazine’s Top Female athletes in 2003 and has an impressive set of victories that goes on longer than the trails she rides.

Top photographers are often given models of new cameras before they hit the market. They’re typically used in super-secret fashion and there are only a handful of them (the new cameras) in existence. Nikon called upon top photographer Corey Rich to show off the new Nikon D4’s capabilities. He was given free reign to create whatever he wished. Corey chose three athletes, one of which was Rebecca. She shared on her website, “He invited me to be part of the video from Nikon launching their new D4. The only thing is that the camera was so super top secret that we weren’t allowed to tell anyone what the shoot was for, or who we were working with.”

Check out the video and listen to Rebecca’s message throughout the video. You know you’re a hardbody when you say, “a 10 hour race would be a short race for me.”

Video: Lolo Jones 12 Years for 12 Seconds

USA Track & Field star Lolo Jones is one of our favorite hardbody women to follow on twitter (LoloJones). If you’re not following you her you’re missing out on hilarious interactions with her fans. She may be a bit of a jokester but rest assured she’s all business when it comes to running hurdles.

Via Lolo’s Facebook page:
At the 2008 Beijing Olympics, Lolo was favored to win the 100 meter hurdles. In the final, she was pulling away from the pack when she clipped the 9th hurdle (of 10) and stumbled, breaking stride to drop her back to a 7th-place finish.

Imagine training for that one race, only to have one mistake keep your from it. In this latest video from her sponsor Asics, Lolo shares how she is battling back from a spinal surgery and determined to win Gold at the Olympics. As she says, she’s trained 12 years for 12 seconds.

“I’ve had time’s where I wasn’t number one and I fought and crawled to become number one.” – Lolo Jones.

Hardbody At The After-Bash

We were running on fumes by the time Saturday night rolled around but we mustered up a second wind and headed to Jason Dhir’s Charity After-Bash. This year’s theme was ELEVATE and Jason held true to the party’s theme. He once again took things to a new level of madness and we were there to capture part of it. A tent had midget cage wrestlers and despite it being freezing cold, it was worth it for the entertainment. Inside there were people on stilts, painted bodies and more. It was definitely interesting.

Check out the videos below of the entertaining midget cage wrestling and the show that kicked off at 1am indoors. Photos from the after party bash are available on Bodybuilding.com. Ron Avidan’s photos are linked up here and you can see a few I snapped here.

WTF Wednesday – Annik’s Gratuitous Shake Weight Video

Fitness Model and NPC Bikini competitor, Annik Nayler has been published in numerous fitness magazines and is always a bit of a goofball. She takes her randomness to a new level when she mixes appears to be a pre-workout drink for her “1,000 rep Shaker Weight Video”.

I guess this is one way to promote a supplement, if only we knew what it was. As if the dudes watching this care, right? Down a pre-workout drink in your kitchen, hike up the “the girls”, add music and be sure to use close-ups of the shakage.

I didn’t bother to count if she made it to a thousand. It’s random and definitely worthy of WTF Wednesday.

I Wants To Be a Bodybuilder

This is a hilarious video. Anyone who has competed has probably had a conversation similar to this. If you aren’t a competitor you might sound like the wife in this video.

Should Energy Drinks Be Regulated?

ESPN’s E:60 produced a piece on Energy Drinks being marketed to young athletes. The energy drink industry is a huge, booming business (7 BILLION, yes with a “b” according to Beverage Digest). that is mainly targeted towards young men. Are energy drink companies to blame when kids consume too many? What about the parents responsibility or will kids do drink them anyway? It’s an interesting video worth watching.

Jack Owoc of VPC on E:60

ESPN interviewed Jack Owoc, CEO of VPX Sports Nutrition for the segment. VPX makes the popular energy drink, REDLINE, for the piece.  I agree with Jack when he shares, “If one is good five is better” when it comes to kids and energy drinks. The same could be said for many adults as well.

Jack goes on to say, “They should disallow energy drinks to be marketed to kids. Regulated also in the sense that you can’t sell to minors just like you can’t sell cigarettes. So let’s just lump energy drinks in with that and say you can’t sell energy drinks either to minors.” That’s an interesting comment and one I didn’t expect to hear from him. I’m not sure I agree with regulating energy drinks. In my opinion, it would only make kids want them more. You always want what you can’t have and kids would then turn to their older buddies to hook them up with energy drinks.

Where would the cut off age be… 18? 21? When is one deemed responsible enough to consume energy drinks?

I think the responsibility goes back to the makers of the energy drinks. They should be regulated from the amount of caffeine they put in each container. There have been several occasions where I’ve consumed an energy drink and felt cracked out. Did I read the label? No. More often than not there are more than one serving in each can/bottle. Is it the consumer’s responsibility to read the label and see the number of servings before drinking? Ya, sure but companies also know that most people won’t crack open a can and only drink 1/2 of it.

One look on bodybuilding.com’s Energy drink listing you can see a number of examples of this. Note the serving size and amount of servings per container. Some have 2 servings for a 2.5 ounce bottle!

The ESPN E:60 segment:

They are marketed as performance enhancers and used by young athletes before games and workouts, but just how safe are energy drinks? In a 7-month investigation, E:60 spoke to teenagers who have suffered everything from headaches to seizures and heart issues that require surgery.

What do you think? Sound off in the comments below.

{democracy:172}

** Update – ESPN’s Tom Ferrey goes more in-depth with the story and gets more input from Jack Owoc.
