“Unofficial Insight” on the NPC Division & Updates

The Internet is great for a number of things but it can also be a breeding ground for rumors and 1/2 truths. People love drama and speculation is expected when rumors are running rampant. I’ve held off on posting many updates from the NPC Nationals meeting and IFBB Pro League meeting until they are officially announced. I’ve been bombarded with questions via email, text, phone calls and smoke signals. Okay, maybe not so many phone calls. All kidding aside, yes there will be some changes and additions to the NPC. There’s no sense in getting worked up over things until the organization puts out the details and regulations.

In an attempt to squash some of the madness, J.M. Manion posted this info on the Around The NPC NEWS facebook page. Here’s some “unofficial insight” until the official word is released.

Around The NPC with J.M. Manion Lots of rumors floating around after the 2010 NPC National Championships. Official announcements & details will be forthcoming in regard to Men’s Physique, Women’s Physique & Fitness.

What I can tell you ‘unofficially’ is;

1) Fitness will be scored 2/3 Routine, 1/3 Physique.

‎2) Men’s Physique will begin in 2011 with an IFBB Professional League division in 2012. Men wear Board Shorts, are barefoot & will have a posing criteria & will come on stage individually & then brought out in groups. Any NPC promoter can have Men’s Physique with their competitions.

3) Women’s Physique will also begin in 2011, but will only be held with NPC national competitions. Tentatively starting with NPC Jr. Nationals then Team Universe, USA & Nationals. No local, state or regional competitions will have them in 2011. Also with an IFBB Professional League division in 2012. Details & rules still being worked out. But the competitors will be barefoot, no heels.

4) There will still be NPC Women’s Bodybuilding competitions.

My advice is to RELAX people. It’s not the end of the world and yes, I understand you need to prep for competitions but stop acting like the sky is falling and the competitive world as we know it will dramatically change. I’ll keep you posted when more news is available. In the mean time, don’t get your posing suits in a bunch.
