Wilkins Wins in St. Louis Pro Figure

Two-time Figure International Champion, Nicole Wilkins notched her second win this month at the 2011 St. Louis Pro Figure. Wilkins was a unanimous choice on the judges scorecards setting up a bit of a rivalry with Erin Stern. Erin notched wins in New Zealand and Australia this month. We’ll explore that match-up later. Nicole was the favorite going into the event and she backed it up by coming in on-point.

Teresa Anthony leaped back into the top spots after a seventh place Arnold finish. Teresa always displays style and grace on and off the stage, a trait other pros could take note on. Ava Cowan was in the third place spot, a position she held at Figure International earlier this month. Teresa was a bit sharper than she was in Columbus and it came as no surprise to me that she was battle for the top spot. Ava has competed a number of times in the last 6 months and has definitely refined her physique since turning pro. I look for her to take some time off and maybe do a warm up show before the Olympia.

Monica Specking edged out Michelle Battista-McDonald by two points for her second top five finish in her short pro career. Monica was last year’s NPC Nationals Overall figure winner. She placed third in her pro debut at the 2010 Houston Pro and immediately made a name for herself. Michelle was competing with a heavy heart, as I’m told her she learned her sister had passed away the night before the contest. Her fifth place finish was her highest as a pro.

MelissaFrederick held her own in the figure division, typically competing in the Fitness division.
