The Fitness Industry Pauses To Reflect On 9/11

Ten years ago the world changed. Some of you may not be old enough to remember it but many of us will never forget where we were and what we were doing ten years ago. I know I’ll never forget it. Check out what some of the people in the fitness industry were doing on September 11, 2001 in a nice tribute by Bodybuilding.com.

I woke up a little after 6am and was peeling my eyes open before heading to the gym. I turned on the tv as I normally did to watch the TODAY show. I thought I was still asleep or dreaming when I saw the reporters talking about a plane crashing into the World Trade Center tower. I was doing cardio at the gym when the second plane hit and it was like the world stood still. The vibe in the gym was eery and driving home it seemed like everything stood still. I remember going into the design firm I worked at and getting a call from my boss. She was stuck in the airport and was supposed to fly to New York that day. The rest of the day I was glued to my tv and couldn’t fathom what I was seeing. The first time I visited Ground Zero was for the Team Universe competition and the Millennium Hilton had been rebuilt. My room overlooked the gaping hole in the ground that was once the location of the World Trade Center.
