2011 Fitness Olympia Preview and Predictons

Adela Garcia heads into the Fitness Olympia with a target on her back. She’s positioned herself as the one to beat since sitting out the 2008 Olympia due to a knee injury. Trish Warren will be absent from the line-up as she’s expecting her first child. Mindi O’Brien shared via twitter that she will be sidelined due to a nagging injury. Can Tanji Johnson bring a look that leaps her over Adela?

The rules changed to put the emphasis on the routines and I hope we see the judges stick to that change. If they do, and I believe they will, then we should see a top six that has some new faces in it. There will be some incredible routines performed on Friday night. Look for the Canadian contingency (Myriam Capes and Jodi Boam) to stand out with their incredible gymnastics and strength moves. The x-factor in the top six will be Camala Rodriquez. She’s has the structure to place well in the physique rounds but has been inconsistent with what she brings to the stage. I have her in the middle of the pack when it comes to the routine rounds. If Oksana Grishina performs a routine like she has in the past and misses the top six, expect to hear it from the crowd. She was out of the top 6 at the Fitness International which was the biggest injustice since her pro debut where she was tied for 16th, at least in my opinion. She won’t have the best physique on stage but she will entertain with her performance.

If Fitness has any chance at surviving and thriving like it once did the placings need to reflect the routines and not the physiques. Those of you watching the webcast at home, keep score of what routines you like the best and see if they fall in line with the final placings. Read my entire preview of the competition and where I think the ladies will finish. Sound off if you agree or disagree in the comments below.
