Hardbody Couples – Tips to Being Happy & Healthy Together

It can be challenging to live and maintain a healthy lifestyle. If you’re married or in a relationship it helps if your significant other is supportive. They may not go to the gym with you (maybe you don’t want them to) but they can be supportive in a number of ways. Take top national NPC Figure competitor Phannary Pen for example. Her fiancé Joey diets with her when she prepares for a show, so not only is Phannary getting in top shape he is too! The two of them support each other by eating similar things and getting a hardbody in the process. This got us thinking… what are other ways are there to be supportive in a competition or by living a healthy lifestyle?

We went to our Facebook page and asked fans what their significant other does or could do to help them maintain a healthy lifestyle. Check out some of the responses:

Watching our 2 boys while I hit the weight room 🙂

Monica Goto Beltran
Eating clean AND working out together! 🙂

My hubby started doing the dishes, this gave me a little extra time to prepare big healthy lunches for both of us. Nothing sexier than a man who washes dishes 🙂

We train hard, we eat well, we make no excuses!

Live the lifestyle with me! Working together as a team is the best way!

Eating cleaner and taking turns making healthier meals for the family. Switching up workout time vs. home time with our son. This way we can take turns having workout alone time and quality one on one time with our son.

Mine eats clean and doesn’t expect different meals and doesn’t expect me to keep special things in the house for him if I have problems resisting. If he wants something on my black list, he’ll buy it and eat it before I see it! He’s my biggest supporter, motivator, and fan!

We run together.

Show off our results to each other. It really keeps us motivated and gives us a fun sense of competitiveness and accomplishment.

Mr & Mrs Workout
We keep each accountable, if one doesn’t feel like working out we give the other the whisper of motivation in their ear. Also with our lil baby girl we make sure that we each have equal amounts in the gym and go one after the other if we cant work out together. So no excuses 😉

My husband is the LOUDEST at my competitions. He is sooo supportive by watching our 3 children whenever I want to go to the gym!!!

My boyfriend is a personal trainer and I’m a Phys. Ed major. We motivate each other to workout, and spend our Saturdays hiking. I think I’m the balance though that makes us eat healthy. It’s funny, we will go grocery shopping and he will pick up something unhealthy and be like “This looks good!” and I just keep walking because he wants me to give in. This also happens when we drive past a restaurant he will say “oh that sounds good!” and I just keep driving and tell him I’ll make him dinner at home. I think i push for better eating and he pushes more workouts out of me.

Cook for each other. Have both indecisive and “couple” goals. Like completing a marathon together (our current goal)

My boyfriend and I have both wholly embraced the fitness lifestyle – we don’t always get to work out together due to schedule conflicts, but when we do, its like a date. We look forward to it, get excited about it and push each other hard. We also cook together and eat the same sort of food, and discuss how we can make new creative recipes that are clean and enjoyable. We only ever go out to eat together at places where we can get clean food, and we also are those clean-eating-food-smugglers at the theatre and other such places!

Stop buying me Peanuts!
