2013 IFBB Pittsburgh Pro Bikini Results & Hardbody Review

Yeshaira Robles continues to be one of the leading ladies in the IFBB Bikini division. She was crowned the winner over the weekend at the 2013 IFBB Pittsburgh Pro. The competition continues to get better and better in the division. Ashley Kaltwasser finished in second and Stacey Alexander finished in third.

pitt-bikini

After prejudging it looked as though Stacey Alexander could have left the winner. She was spot on with her conditioning and seemed the sharpest of the group. Yeshaira has the presentation portion of competition down. She can go from cute and with the flip of her hair look like one of the sexiest women on stage. I wouldn’t have argued with Pollianna Moss winning the show either. She carries a bit more muscle on her tiny frame than the other women but she’s always poised and polished with her presentation. Ashley Kaltwasser has one of the most athletic physiques in the division and certainly can hang with the best of the division. The little details still plague Ashley. Ashley’s tanning was a bit green and muddy in the midsection and her makeup is a bit dark around the eyes for my liking. I’d like to see those details get ironed out and should be taken into account for placings, in my opinion. The tanning was better at the night show though. Lacey Deluca greatly improved from her Orlando finish and her physique was much tighter in Pittsburgh. She impressed the judges and it landed her in fourth.

Many of these women will head to Detroit and New York to compete. We’ll see if there are similar results.

2013 IFBB Pittsburgh Pro Bikini Competitors & Hardbody Preview

The IFBB bikini pros are back on stage this weekend in Pittsburgh. The line-up is a very competitive one and there’s no odds-on favorite for the win, which should make for an interesting show. Who will show up on their game and who will miss the mark?

pitt-pro-bikini

Those of you who follow Hardbody know we’re not going to take the easy route and say everyone looks amazing. Yes, all of these women do look great and that’s why they are pros. When you cut the crap and get down to it, there’s a few physique that stand out from the rest and are ones to watch this weekend.

THE HARDBODY 411
Stacey Alexander made the trip from Cali and tends to be in the mix on the West Coast, will she find similar fortune on the East? Gigi Amurao is always in the top 10 contention and if she brings in slightly smaller legs than Daytona she’ll be a contender. Maria Annunziata finished in the top 5 in Orlando but will need to have a better tan and tighter lower body to match that finish. Ashley Cronly Leblanc found her groove at the end of 2012 and will be on stage for the first time this season. Will she be rested and ready or need to clear out the competition cobwebs?

Yarelis Gonzales has the potential to win this show and be a star in the pro bikini division but will she be in shape? She’s her own worst enemy and being a shorter competitor she needs to come very tight or will way look off. We haven’t seen her since December so who knows what she will bring to the stage. Ashley Kaltwasser has an athletic physique and should be a contender, it’s the little details like hair, make-up and tanning that could hold her back. Pollianna Moss has positioned herself as a contender in every show and if she matches the look she had in Daytona she’ll be in a top spot.

Yeshaira Robles is always a contender and the perfect blend of cute and sexy on stage. Look for her to be in the top spots. Aly Veneno will get a true test this time around. She’s been in the top five her last couple of shows but this is a much tougher line-up. If she’s on point she can hang but any misstep and she’ll be on the outside looking in. Lastly, Nicole Witbeck could be a contender. She’s been competing in a number of shows so it will either help her find her groove or take its toll on her body.

The show takes place on Saturday, May 3, 2013 in Pittsburgh. Follow the hashtag #pittpro on twitter and check back here for updates throughout the weekend.

Yeshaira Robles’ Arnold Recap

Yeshaira Robles recaps her first trip to the Arnold Sports Festival. Yeshaira finished an impressive 4th place in the Bikini International. This hardbody momma shares some of the challenges she faced en route to the stage and what she learned along the way.  Check out photos from the Bikini International here.

yeshaira robles

Hello hardbodies!!

I am so excited to share with you my sentiments & proud accomplishment of competing in my first bikini international and taking home the 4th place spot! All my fellow competitors looked beautiful and brought their best package to the stage… I would like to congratulate all the figure, fitness and bikini girls.

My prep for this show, was NOT easy… as I competed in 7 shows in 2012, with only 2 months off to mentally and physically get ready for the Arnold. I believe everyone was sick with the flu, me included. That definitely dampened my diet and exercise regiment. By February 2013, I was able to regain my strength and motivation back to rock the stage. Becoming conditioned on time was my hardest challenge, besides FOOD!

The greatest lesson I learned this past year, competing as a pro is… Rest is as important as putting in the work to reach my goals.

I want to thank HardBodyNews.com for letting me share my journey to the Bikini International and thanks to all of YOU for reading!

Until next time, train hard and Rock ON!

2013 Bikini International Results & Review

The annual Ms. Bikini International took place in Columbus, Ohio on March 2, 2013 as part of the Arnold Sports Festival. Sixteen women were invited to compete on the prestigious Arnold stage and when the scores were tallied a new winner was crowned for the third year in a row. Nicole Nagrani was the inaugural winner and Sonia Gonzales took home the title last year. This year, Florida resident, India Paulino took home the crown.

2013-bikini-arnold

India Paulino edged out the reigning Ms. Bikini Olympia Champion, Nathalia Melo by two points for the win. Many in attendance thought the finals could go a number of ways based on the judges’ call-outs. India brought a slightly softer physique than we’ve seen in the past but as expected she sported a yellow bikini and brought sass to the stage. Nathalia brought a similar look as she had to the Olympia stage but came up just short in the judges’ score sheets. She has a bit more muscle in her legs than the other women in this line-up and it may have hurt her since there was no one to compare her to with a similar build. Nathalia has always posed with great energy and confidence.

Nicole Nagrani look a little smaller than we’ve seen her in the past and she brought a new look to the stage. She had a very noticeable breast augmentation done in the off-season and it didn’t quite feel like we were seeing the same Nicole as year’s past. Aside from the obvious of the physical appearance it was also the presentation. Gone was the cutesy, bubbly young Nicole we’d seen in her first two years as a pro.

Yeshaira Robles is the epitome of class. She has a smile that will light up the darkest room and she has the ability to be cute and sexy with a bat of an eye. If Yeshaira had been crowned the winner you’d likely get few arguments from the fans. Jessica Paxson quietly finished in the fifth place position. She wasn’t in the initial first call-out but after a few comparisons between the 4-8 finishers she locked in fifth place. Jessica has the complete look from head to toe and she presented more confident than ever. Rounding out the top six was the always consistent Jaime Baird. Jaime has a long, lean legs and it can some times hurt her against the shorter women. She held her own once again but didn’t quite have the same glow to her presentation as she has in the past.

One woman to watch in the coming shows is Ashley Kaltwasser. She has a great physique and as she clocks more stage presence and gets more comfortable on stage, you’ll see her move up. She finished in 10th but don’t be surprised if she has a pro victory to her credit before the year is over.

Hardbody Momma Yeshaira Robles Road To The Arnold

Yeshaira Robles stops by after being knocked down by the flu. She’s back and ready to rock on with her Arnold prep. Yeshaira fills us in on what she’s been doing and what she was awarded when she made the trip to Daytona to visit her team.

yeshair-arnold

Yeshaira Robles, 2013 Bikini International Contender

Hello Hardbody Nation!!!

Wow So I’m officially 2 weeks out to the Bikini International… I’m really excited and nervous. I’m feeling good though and can’t wait.

Did any of you get sick with the flu?? I did it was horrible 1 whole week of sickness. :/

I’m back to normal now. This past weekend was a great one. I went out to Daytona Beach to teach Super Camp for Team Bombshell. It was a great weekend, all the girls are AMAZING and very Inspiring to each other and me as well. Sometimes I get lazy and I’m so glad I made it to camp because it was definitely something I needed. The girls gave me an extra boost.

I was awarded the 2012 Team Bombshell of the Year by my team. It was a honor to receive this award. Let me share a little something with you guys… in the beginning of 2011 when I joined this amazing team I remember that there was a poll for us to vote for bombshell of the year and I told myself; “I would love my name to be up there one da.” Ladies, it’s never too late to pursue your dreams, remember it’s not coming to you YOU have to go get it.

I received few emails from some lovely ladies asking me how can we loose that lower belly fat after pregnancy I answered them individually but I wanted to share for those who might be curious.

After my pregnancy, I started eating small clean portions every 2-3 hours (grilled chicken, fish, sweet potatoes, egg whites, oatmeal, greens, fruits, brown rice) and incorporating 60 minutes cardio sessions. Eventually when the weight was dropping I still noticed that belly pouch. I started wrapping myself with a neoprene belt and putting albolene (you can purchase it at duane reade) around my stomach during my cardio sessions. I started to see a big difference. I also added 4×50 crunches and 4×50 leg raises. Now they have some great products in the market that you can use like Sweet Sweat, Beauty Bum, and Fat Fader. Some really good stuff.

If you eat bad foods and no cardio etc it will store right in the belly I know cause it happens to me. LOL!

Until next time Stay Fit and Rock on :)

Super Bowl Predictions, The Commercials, Snacks & More with Your Favorite Hardbodies

This weekend the Super Bowl takes place in New Orleans and we caught up with some of your favorite hardbody women to ask them who would win. What does cover model Jamie Eason like for Super Bowl snack? Who does Nike master trainer, Marie Purvis think will win? How about Miss Supercross Dianna Dahlgen will she stick with her home state of Cali for the win? Will the Puppy Bowl be more exciting than the Super Bowl? Read on…

superbowl

HARDBODY SUPER BOWL Q&A:

th_marie-purvis Marie Purvis - Top Personal Trainer – @mariepurvis

Who do you think will win the Super Bowl San Francisco 49ers or the Baltimore Ravens?
The 49ers of course are going to win; the Ravens beat my Broncos!

Final Score: 21-14 49ers haha I totally made that up, but a good guess. ;)

More exciting the Super Bowl or the Puppy Bowl? Well, although I’m a huge fan of puppies I’m going w the Super Bowl.

More exciting the commercials or the game? Let’s be honest we all watch the Super Bowl partly because we love to see what wild commercials there will be. :)

Favorite healthy snack for watching the Super Bowl? Favorite snack is pretty typical. I love avocado stuffed with bay shrimp & salsa or I like homemade curry coconut shrimp.

———

th_jamieeason Jamie Eason - Cover Model/Fitness Personality - @Jamie_Eason

Who do you think will win the Super Bowl San Francisco 49ers or the Baltimore Ravens?
I’m going with Baltimore because Ray Lewis is retiring this year. His team will likely rally around him. They also have a good defense and they say its the defense that wins championships.

Final Score: This is a random guess – 35 to 24, Baltimore winning

More exciting the Super Bowl or the Puppy Bowl? The Super Bowl and the Puppy Bowl are close but I don’t think I’d pay the same kind of money for PB tickets as many people do for SB.

More exciting the commercials or the game? The commercials sadly haven’t lived up to the hype in years. They used to be my favorite part.

Favorite healthy snack for watching the Super Bowl? For a healthy SB snack, I’d have to go with buffalo sliders and raw veggies with hummus.

———

th_swann Swann “Frenchy” Cardot – IFBB Pro - @SwannCardot
I’ll be too busy cooking up something new to watch.

———

th_nicole Nicole Wilkins - IFBB Pro - @NicoleMWilkins

Who do you think will win the Super Bowl San Francisco 49ers or the Baltimore Ravens?
I am going to guess the 49ers.

Final Score: um

More exciting the Super Bowl or the Puppy Bowl? The Super Bowl.  I’ve never watched the Puppy Bowl.

More exciting the commercials or the game? The commercials, unless of course I was at the game.

Favorite healthy snack for watching the Super Bowl? Homemade tortilla chips and salsa

———

th_amanda-latona Amanda Latona - IFBB Pro - @AmandaLatona

Who do you think will win the Super Bowl San Francisco 49ers or the Baltimore Ravens?
I think Ravens will win. Well I hope anyway, that’s who I’ll be routing for come Sunday.

Final Score:  Ravens 31. 49ers 17

More exciting the Super Bowl or the Puppy Bowl? What’s a puppy bowl? Sounds exciting though.

More exciting the commercials or the game? Few things are more exciting then the Super Bowl game on TV the entire year. Period.

Favorite healthy snack for watching the Super Bowl? Its the Super Bowl. I’m an American. Eat clean all week. Sunday cheat day. I’m getting pappa johns. Doritos and beer. Legs on monday :) holllllllla

———

th_tianna Tianna Ta - IFBB Pro / MTV MADE Coach - @TiannaTa

Who do you think will win the Super Bowl San Francisco 49ers or the Baltimore Ravens? The Patri….oh wait, the Pats didn’t show up to play last week against the Ravens! I’ve got to give it to Baltimore for smashing my home team, the Patriots :(

Final Score: 21-17

More exciting the Super Bowl or the Puppy Bowl? Ha! I’m looking forward to the Puppy Bowl! If New England was actually playing, I’d be more interested, but this year, puppies are it.

More exciting the commercials or the game? The commercials during the Super Bowl are always epic and entertaining!

Favorite healthy snack for watching the Super Bowl? Buffalo wings…hold the celery ;)

———

th_lisaperry Lisa Perry - Former NFL Cheerleader / Makeup Artist - @MissLisaPerry

Who do you think will win the Super Bowl San Francisco 49ers or the Baltimore Ravens?
RAVENS Go AFC!

Final Score: RAVENS 21 – 49ERS 20 (Ravens will not cover the spread)

More exciting the Super Bowl or the Puppy Bowl? The only dawgs I’m thinking about are how pathetic the Browns must feel because the Ravens dominated them in the AFC North.

More exciting the commercials or the game?  Never watch commercials – drink break, food break & white porcelain break

Favorite healthy snack for watching the Super Bowl?  Does Vodka Tonic count?

———

th_diannadahlgren Dianna Dahlgren - Miss Supercross, Cover Model - @diannadahlgren

Who do you think will win the Super Bowl San Francisco 49ers or the Baltimore Ravens?
Since I’m a Cali girl I’m going for the 49ers!!!

Final Score: Uhmmm doesn’t matter! Lol as long as the 49ers win

More exciting the Super Bowl or the Puppy Bowl? WTF is a puppy bowl!?

More exciting the commercials or the game? I’ll admit the commercials are pretty damn funny.

Favorite healthy snack for watching the Super Bowl? Oooo home made (baked) chips and salsa!!!

———

th_desiree Desireee Niemann - IFBB Pro - @desireeniemann

Who do you think will win the Super Bowl San Francisco 49ers or the Baltimore Ravens?
Its a toss up. Whoever’s defense shows up on Sunday will win. I’ll go with the 49ers though.

Final Score: 24-21

More exciting the Super Bowl or the Puppy Bowl? Puppy bowl is cute, but the Super Bowl is where the excitement is!

More exciting the commercials or the game? I look forward to the commercials every year, they are the best!

Favorite healthy snack for watching the Super Bowl? Spinach artichoke dip.

———

th_monique-gantt Monique Gantt - IFBB Pro - instagram.com/gimmem0

Who do you think will win the Super Bowl San Francisco 49ers or the Baltimore Ravens?

Final Score: 32-30

More exciting the Super Bowl or the Puppy Bowl? Super Bowl of course, although I’m guilty of watching the puppy bowl.

More exciting the commercials or the game? I’m split 50/50

Favorite healthy snack for watching the Super Bowl? I love celery and diet coke lol.

———

th_cindy-whitehead Cindy “The SportsStylist®” Whitehead - Professional Skateboader, Stylist - @SportsStylist

I’ll be skateboarding dude.

———

th_yeshaira Yeshaira Robles - IFBB Pro - @yeshaira

I pick Baltimore Ravens.

Final Score: 31-17

More exciting the Super Bowl or the Puppy Bowl? Super Bowl.

More exciting the commercials or the game? I love the commercials.

Favorite healthy snack for watching the Super Bowl? Carrots and celery.

———

th_trish-warren Trish Warren - IFBB Pro - @trishwarren

Who do you think will win the Super Bowl San Francisco 49ers or the Baltimore Ravens? Ravens

Final Score: 35-21

More exciting the Super Bowl or the Puppy Bowl? Super Bowl

More exciting the commercials or the game? The game.

Favorite healthy snack for watching the Super Bowl? Hummus and bell peppers- which I can’t have this year. (Trish is prepping for the Fitness International).

Meal Preparation Tips from Fit Mom Yeshaira Robles

Yeshaira Robles shares her tips to preparing meals and making sure she stays on track with her busy schedule. Check out what her day is like with work, working out, being a mom and preparing for the Bikini International. Yeshaira also shares some fun photos of herself with Mr. Olympia, Jay Cutler. You can’t help but cheer for her every time you see her smile.

Yeshaira Robles, 2013 Bikini International Contender

Wow what a week!! My body is starting to feel back to normal, I love all the sore muscles. I trained every day last week Sun-Thurs Holllaaa. I did my cardio and kept my food semi-clean. It usually takes me a week to get back in action, so by the 2nd week its on. I’m starting to have the crazy competition dreams: no tanner on, my hair a mess, missing my shoes etc Ha.

I like to prepare all my meals for the week on my day off, that way I don’t have to worry about getting a meal in when I have a busy schedule. My suggestions to you guys is to cook everything in one shot: chicken, fish, sweet potatoes, rice etc.

• Weigh them out and put them in small baggies
• Take your meals for each day and put them in a large freezer bag and freeze them
• The night before take out one bag and put in the refrigerator, that way it thaws out over-night

I always cook my breakfast in the morning :)   (can’t eat frozen eggs and oatmeal lol)

This is how I start my day when I’m not working:
* morning cardio on an empty stomach.
* breakfast and get my daughter ready for school.
* back home to sleep for 2 hours
* eat my 2nd meal
* gym time weights and 2nd cardio
* house duties and answer emails
* pick my daughter up from school. We always go for ice cream or a cupcake. (if I’m dieting I don’t have any, If I’m not dieting I do)
* homework, playtime, dinner and movie of choice then bed time for her
* my alone time, I like to watch TV

Every day it changes around because I also work full-time.

yeshaira2Yeshaira with Mr. Olympia, Jay Cutler while pregnant & after getting her abs back.

Last week I wrote about how I gained 67 pounds during my pregnancy. I was huge.  I was determined to go back to my normal weight it didn’t happen as fast as I thought it would, but I made sure that I was consistent each day. Some moms out there find it difficult to drop weight and it all comes from within. You have to want it. People called it baby weight, no it wasn’t baby weight because the baby came out and I was still heavy!

If there are any new moms out there reading this never give up! Trust me, anything is possible, and I’ve made so many of my dreams come true. I’m sure you can too..Always remember that it’s not going to happen overnight, in a week or in a month. But it will Happen!

Ladies feel free to email me if you have any questions :) yeshaira@gmail.com.

Until Next Time,

Hardbody Road To The Arnold – Yeshaira Robles’ Journey

Yeshaira Robles is prepping for her first trip to the Bikini International and she shares her journey with us. Follow her Road to the Arnold and read how a mom with  four year old daughter and full-time job juggles it all. Yeshaira is like many of us and she loves food. Will it knock her off the road to the top? Don’t bet against her, she’s proven she can be a leading lady at any show she enters and will be looking for a top spot in Columbus.

yeshair-arnold

Yeshaira Robles, 2013 Bikini International Contender:

Hi Everyone!

My name is Yeshaira Robles and I’m an IFBB Bikini Pro. I’m a mom to a 4 year old girl. Let me tell you a little bit about myself.

I was a model/actress for the entertainment industry. I was pretty much average but once I got pregnant in 2007 I went from 110 to 176. After birth in 2008 I thought I would drop at least 20lbs, wrong. Ha Ha I only dropped 1 pound. After the birth of my daughter, I still went on auditions and landed a lead role for a music video. When I tell you I dropped 40lbs in 3 months I did. I ate clean, small portions every 2 to 3 hours and doing tons of cardio. I trained at home since I had a little one with me all the time. I would do lots of plyometrics at home and circuit training with 5lbs and 10lbs kettle bells. Eventually I got tired of the auditioning and long hours at video and movie shoots so I decided to take a break and get into NPC bikini competitions.

This will be my 3rd year competing. I started in 2010 and turned pro in 2011. I had a great season in 2012 and I will start 2013 off with the Bikini International.  This is my first trip ever to the Arnold and I’m soooooo excited.  Getting invited to the Bikini International was one of my goals/dreams besides the Olympia and winning a show :)

Today, I am 7 weeks out and I have officially started my diet and training for this show. I took time off from the gym and diet since my last show, well not completely off just on and off. Ha… I told myself,  “Yeshaira you have to really come in great for this show, its the Arnold and you got Invited”. Honestly sometimes I do get lazy.

I prepped all my meals this morning, all in baggies and ready to go. Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day, I enjoy my egg whites, oatmeal and a good cup of coffee. Keeping a clean diet is always so difficult for me cause I love FOOD! When it was time for me to eat meal number two, I was like “oh man” Fish and Asparagus. HA!

Once I was done with work I went straight to the gym to start off my first workout of the year “Quads and Glutes” My fav… I had a really good workout I know I’m going to feel it in the morning. After the gym I went home to prep more meals for the next day. I cooked for my little girl and big man lol. I’m not going to lie but I made pepperoni flat bread pizza for my daughter and I had a bite. Food temptation is the worse LOL.

Tomorrow is a new day and I’m ready!

Thanks for reading and until next time,

One of the most anticipated events of December, besides what’s under the Christmas tree, is the Arnold invite list. Each year Santa comes a little early to a select group of IFBB Pros. The show is one of the few competitions that’s by invite only and to receive an invite is considered a huge honor in the industry. PRESS RELEASE:
Dexter Jackson Aims For Record-Tying Fourth Arnold Classic Title

Six-Time Champ Iris Kyle, Oksana Grishina, Erin Stern, Nicole Nagrani Lead Women’s Fields

Dexter Jackson will gun for his record-tying fourth Arnold Classic title when he leads a field of 13 men’s professional bodybuilders the 25th Anniversary Arnold Classic at the 2013 Arnold Sports Festival.

Jackson, who will compete in Columbus for the 14th time, won the Arnold Classic in 2005, 2006 and 2008. A win in March would tie Jackson with the popular Flex Wheeler, the Arnold Classic champ in 1993, 1997, 1998 and 2000. Cedric McMillan, making his Arnold Classic debut; Ben Pakulski, fourth in 2012; and Toney Freeman, fifth in the 2012 Arnold Classic Europe, are expected to challenge.

In the Ms. International, six-time champion Iris Kyle returns to the Veterans Memorial stage after sitting out 2012 due to injury. Kyle will be challenged by five-time winner Yaxeni Oriquen, last year’s winner, and Deb Laszewski, who finished second in 2012.

Five-time Fitness International champ Adela Garcia will not compete in 2013, leaving the door open for Oksana Grishina, Bethany Cisternino, Tanji Johnson and Myriam Capes to battle for the title among a field of 12. Grishina beat Garcia heads up to win the 2012 Arnold Fitness Europe, while Cisternino (fourth), Johnson (fifth) and Capes (sixth) will look to improve on impressive showings in 2012.

A new champion will also be crowned in the Figure International. Three-time defending champ Nicole Wilkins will not compete, leaving 2012 Arnold Figure Europe winner Erin Stern as the favorite among a field of 18. Candice Keene, Ava Cowan and Heather Dees all return after top six finishes in 2012, while Camala Rodriguez makes her Figure International debut after finishing second in the Fitness International in 2012.

Nicole Nagrani, winner of the inaugural Bikini International in 2011; India Paulino, second in 2012; Jamie Baird, third in 2012; and Nathalia Melo, fifth last year, lead a pack of 18 in the Bikini International.

Olga Puzanova (Ms. International), Melinda Szabo (Fitness International), Olga Gallardo (Figure International) and Ashley Kaltwasser (Bikini International) earned automatic invites in the IFBB Pro League events based on overall victories at the 2012 Arnold Amateur IFBB/NPC Bodybuilding, Fitness, Figure & Bikini Championships.

The 25th Anniversary Annual Arnold Classic, Ms. International, Fitness International, Figure International and Bikini International contests will be held March 102 at Veteran Memorial and the Greater Columbus Convention Center in Columbus, Ohio during the Arnold Sports Festival. Visit www.arnoldsportsfestival.com for more information and www.ticketmaster.com/arnold for ticket information.

The Friday and Saturday night shows in Columbus will have a slightly different look in 2013. The Fitness International, Fitness International and Figure International will be held on Friday, March 1, while the Arnold Classic, Ms. International and Arnold Strongman finals will be held on Saturday March 2.

Results: IFBB Pro World Bikini Championships

IFBB Bikini Pro, India Paulino keeps hip-popp’n her way to the top. The sassy Floridian notched another pro win to her bikini belt at the 2012 IFBB Pro Wold Championships held in Miami, Florida. India won in unanimous fashion, at least on the judges’ score sheets, over a competitive line-up.

bikini-pro-world india wins

Second place went to Lacey DeLuca who edged out new-comer Yarelis Gonzales by two points. Personally, I had Yarelis winning the show. She was the most relaxed, confident and poised on stage during the pre-judging rounds. She also had nice balance of being tight and toned. Lacey presented in a polished manner and many people often comment on her nice hair. I wouldn’t place her as high she does simply because of her lower half. I’d like to see a much tighter backside to finish in the top spots. Just my opinion and the judges obviously see things differently than me. It’s no knock on Lacey and a second place finish in this line-up is an accomplishment for her. The always classy Yeshaira finished in fourth. I would have had her in the top three but she’s had an impressive 2012 season and is consistently a threat to the top spots. Rounding out the top five was Aly Veneno in her pro debut. Aly could continue to be in the mix of each show if she shows up in similar fashion. Monique Gantt was just outside the top five and presented her best look as a pro to date.

2012 IFBB Ft. Lauderdale Cup Pro Bikini Results & Report

Yeshaira Robles continued her winning ways in Florida over the weekend. She notched her second pro victory in the IFBB Pro Bikini division. The first came earlier in the summer at the Sarasota Pro. While the field at the Ft. Lauderdale Cup wasn’t the deepest it was competitive. Yeshaira was the clear winner in my eyes and she beat out Lacey Deluca by one point. Lacey was in the runner-up position to Yeshaira at the Sarasota Pro show as well.

bikini fl cup review results

The win qualifies Yeshaira for the 2013 Bikini Olympia. Yeshaira is one of the few women who can be cute one minute and with the flip of her hair can turn on the sultry look. She has one of the best bikini bodies and classiest presentations in the division. If any women are new to the division, look at how Yeshaira presents herself and emulate that.

Lacey DeLuca was just one point behind Yeshaira and while she has polished presentation and some beautiful hair, I wouldn’t have her in the runner-up spot. I’d like to see her lower body come in tighter to warrant a second place finish. If she can bring in a tigher set of wheels and backside then I can see it however I would have placed a number of women higher than her this time around.

Gigi Amurao had an impressive pro debut and could be a threat for the top spot in Iowa next month. She’ll need to keep her legs down in size. She has muscular legs and as long as they stay down in size she’ll hold her own. Gemmalyn Crosby bounced back from her disappointing Houston Pro finish. I’d love to see her ditch the orange bikini as it tends to blend in too much with her physique, in my opinion. Rounding out the top five was Bianca Berry. Bianca has a great physique and if she can pose a little better, specifically not making quirky facial expressions I think she’ll continue to do well. One to keep an eye on is Monique Gantt. If she can bring her booty down in size she’ll be a contender for the top five in future shows. While many competitors are trying to build a backside she’s trying to tone it down for what works on the stage. Adriana Hill also improved her physique and presentation. I would have her in the top five here and she narrowly missed it by one point on the judges scorecards.

2012 Ft. Lauderdale Cup Preview

The third annual IFBB Ft. Lauderdale Cup takes place on Saturday, October 20, 2012. Some of the league’s top competitors will take the stage in hopes of qualifying for the Olympia and bragging rights as the Ft. Lauderdale Cup Champion. While the IFBB Pro competition will be one to watch, so will the NPC portion of this event. Some of today’s top pros got their start on this stage. Reigning Bikini Olympia, Nathalia Melo won this show in it’s inaugural year. This is the only all female weekend in the NPC and IFBB. There are slated to be over 150 NPC competitors sharing the stage with nearly 50 pros.

Ft. Lauderdale Cup Hardbody

The Hardbody 411:

FITNESS:
This is one stacked line-up and just short of the Olympia and Arnold Sports competition it might be the most competitive of the year. Oksana Grishina has established herself as the one to beat after a runner-up position at the 2012 Olympia and a win at the Arnold Europe last week. She always has a great routine and it will be the physique round that could prove to be her biggest challenge. Bethany Cisternino should take top honors in the physique round and if she can showcase her strength moves in the routine round look for her to be in the top spots. Ryall Graber-Vasani has a great physique and solid routine. The judges haven’t rewarded her as high as I think she should be placing but we’ll see how she fairs here.  Fiona Harris is another competitor that has kind of flown under the judge’s radar but one to watch with loads of potential. Darrian Tissenbaum will be making her pro debut and the pirate routine is always full of non-stop action. Stacy Wright is making a routine after the birth of her first child.  Regiana Da Silva will leave you a bit dizzy just watching her routine as she flies all over the place and has some sick flexibility and strength.

FIGURE:
Candice Lewis is coming off a win at the Houston Pro and has established herself as one of the break out stars this year. She was at her best in Houston and the only question is how will her body hold up? Look for her to be in the top spots and the one to beat. Kamla Macko could give her a run for her money. She put herself on the map with her runner-up placing at the Sarasota Pro, finishing second to the would be Figure Olympia Champ, Erin Stern. Alicia Harris won this show last year and if her conditioning is on point she’ll be in the mix. Smiley Harris should be in the hunt if she’s in shape. Agnese Russo is a bitter of a sleeper pick in this line-up. She made the switch from bikini to Figure and more than held her own last week in Houston. The biggest  factor in this show will be Camala Rodriquez. Camala fared well in the physique round when competing in the Fitness division however her routines were not on the same level as her physique. She wisely made the move to Figure for this show and could be a threat for the title. It will be interesting to see how she compares to the others. Natalie Waples will look to get back in the hunt for a top spot and her placings have been up and down over the course of the year. Patty Zariello will look to move up into the top five after her debut last week where she was just on the outside. Krista Dunn will look to make her presence known in her pro debut. Krista’s biggest challenge will be not looking too conditioned or overly muscular. Dani Ronquilo will also be making her debut after a string of show in the amateur ranks this year. The other x-factor is Candice John. The Trinidad beauty has the potential to be top five and a threat for the top spot.

BIKINI:
The line-up may not be the biggest of the year but it could be one of the most interesting to watch. There’s no “big name” in the show so to speak and by that I mean top five Olympia finisher. The favorites have to be Lacey DeLuca and Yeshaira Robles. The two went head to head in Sarasota and Yeshaira came out on top. Personally, I love Yeshaira’s look and she’s one of the few competitors who has an athletic, toned physique and presents with class. She’s able to be cute and with a flip of the hair she can strike a sexy look. Lacey brings a bit softer physique in the lower body and her biggest challenge will be her lower body compared to her upper. Adriana Hill is another stunning competitor and her biggest challenge is presenting with confidence and not a nervous look. Gigi Amurao is making her debut and has great stage presence, her biggest challenge will be her legs not looking too muscular on stage. Monique Gantt made her debut in Houston last week and without a doubt has one of thee best booties in the IFBB. That being said, it’s her biggest hinderance as well. She’ll be loved for her asset in photoshoots and modeling however the judges will likely tell her it needs to come down in size. If she can pose her backside without it looking too large and in charge she could be in the top five here. Gemmalyna Crosby is up and down in her placings and her biggest downfall, in my opinion, is her orange suit. Orange doesn’t pop on stage and tends to blend in too much with her physique.

2012 IFBB Valenti Gold Cup Day Prejudging Report

The first half of the 2012 IFBB Valenti Gold Cup is in the books. What went down in Sarasota, Florida during the pre-juding portion of the show? We’ve got you covered. Any surprises in the show? A couple. Read on to find out who is in the hunt for the top spots in each division.

Fitness:
As expected Camala Rodriquez and Myriam Capes would be in the first call-out. Camala should win this round in large part due to her structure and overall balance. She was in shape but not her all-time best. She’ll need to tighten up just a bit before the Olympia but we’ll see a much improved Camala at this year’s Olympia than we have in the past (or at least we should). Myriam Capes has totally changed her physique over the years. She brought her best look as a pro to the stage and should fair much better in the physique rounds with this look. I think she’s in a solid second place after round one. A bit of a surprise was Kizzy Vaines and Hollie Stewart in the first call-out. I would have Ryall Graber-Vasani and Jacklyn Sutton-Abrams ahead of the two of them in the two-piece round. The 2012 Overall NPC JR USA Fitness Champion, Jacklyn Sutton-Abrams brought her best physique in her career (pro or amateur) and showed promise in the division. She still has come refining to do but she’s come a long way even sine turning pro. Ryall was a solid third in my book as she was in shape and one of her best showings. Perhaps she could have been a little fuller but a great showing from my perspective. Back to Kizzy and Hollie. Kizzy could be a bit tighter with her conditioning and improved her posing, specifically with her arms I’d like to see modified a bit. Hollie’s color was a bit yellow/greenish and off. I wouldn’t have her in the first call-out this time. Allison Ethier not at her sharpest and will need to bring her best routine if she hopes to snag an Olympia qualification via the new points system. Vanda Hadarean will have one of the best routines tonight but is currently outside the top spots in the two-piece round.

The second round of prejudging will take place on Saturday which is the exciting round. The 2-minute routine counts for 2/3 of the overall score. Let’s see how things play out as we should see some shuffling in the final spots that differ from the 1st round.

Bikini
A number of hardbody women took the stage in the bikini division. A few rookies and a few veterans were on the same stage and compared to each other. It looks like the win will go to either Yeshaira Robles or Lacey DeLuca. In my opinion, it’s Yeshaira all day long. She is one of the few women who can present in a cute way and in a bat of an eye she hits a sexy look. The more important part is she has the physique. A nice, balance physique that is tight and firm. Lacey DeLuca is making her pro debut after burning things up in the amateur ranks. Her posing in the same every time she takes the stage, very rehearsed and some would argue if it’s not broke and you’re winning don’t fix it. Point taken. The judges seem to like the look she brings. I personally don’t see it as she is a bit too soft in the lower body to be compared for a win, especially the first time as a pro. Some fave her winning, I just happen not to be one of them. She has to be happy with her call-out. Gemmalynn Crosby brought her best look since being rewarded pro status. I’m not a fan of orange suits but it didn’t stop her from being in the top spots. Vida Guerra improved her look from her pro debut in California. This was her second show and while her physique improved, I’d like to see her go back to the stage presence she brought to the stage in Chicago. It almost seemed like something was on her mind that was making her angry. Whatever she was thinking I’d like to see her ditch and perhaps channel some Bob Ross’ “happy little tree” thoughts. When she smiles it’s a totally different energy to her.

Tianna Ta was in the top call-out and looked good. It wasn’t her best look as she was a little flat however it is much better than we’ve seen her in some previous shows. Marcela Tribin is also in the running for a top finish. She’s a beautiful woman who has good stage presence especially with her walk. That said I wouldn’t have her in the top spots simply because of her lower body. I’d like to see more size and muscle to her legs along with a tighter look. That said, it is her best showing to date and the judges are drawn to it. She’ll likely be top five. Adrianna Hill was good but right on the bubble of the top spots. Like to see her with a bit more personality on stage. Aneidra Lynn looked a bit too muscular compared to the women here in her debut. Jennifer Elliott turned pro at Jr. Nationals and this her pro debut, she was a bit off and needed to be tighter. Juliana Daniell is always beautiful on stage and while she wasn’t at her all-time best, it was still a look that, in my opinion, was a top 3 look. She’ll be outside the top five here.

Figure
As expected Erin Stern was front and center in the first call-out. Those of you who aren’t familiar with what they typically symbolizes… winning. Erin has a much improved look from the Figure International and showed the athletic, balanced physique fans and judges have grown to love. I’d like to see her posing from the back just a bit better but that is me trying to find something to critique. She’ll take this one in unanimous fashion on the judges’ scorecard, in my opinion. Second and third will be interesting to watch. Kamla Macko showed and even better physique than we saw in Tampa, where she finished second. She compares well to Erin as they are both tall and athletic. She has a tiny waist and is balanced. Aleisha Hart ditched her prep coach and it paid off. She brought her best look to date as a pro and came in much, much tighter. She’s in position to be no lower than third and it looks like she could finish in second. This is significant as she is looking to get as many points as possible for the Olympia Qualification Series. She ends up in second here and she’ll be a lock. If she gets third, well then it gets dicey and not a sure thing. Andrea Cantone will be in the top five and looks to be in fourth. She too will be looking for points and it looks like she’ll miss an Olympia qualification if things play out as they appear. We’ll have to wait and see. Candice John will be in the fifth place spot most likely and while not at her best, she was still a contender. She’ll need a bit better tan and a tad sharper come Olympia time in three weeks.

Tiffany Archer brought an improve physique and definitely her best look in recent memory. Holly Beck showed like fine wine she gets better with age and giving hope to women in the 45+ range. She looked very good and will finish in the top 10. Tatianna Koshman carries a bit more muscle than some of the other women and will not finish in the top spots here but has tremendous potential. She’s also a bit shorter and when compared to the taller women her physique matches up a bit different then it did to those in the Dallas Europa. A little streamlining to her physique and you’ll see her as a leading lady in the division. I like her look and what she could do in this division.

Women’s Physique
This is Karina Nascimento’s show to lose. She has “the look” of the division. A nice balance of muscle, femininity without taking it to the extreme. Pictures do not do this woman justice. When she poses she exudes sexiness and it’s not in a bad way but rather it captures your attention and you can’t help but keep looking at her physique. Frances Mendez has a nice balance to her physique and made an immediate impact in her pro debut. She should finish in second. Mikala Soto always seems to pose to whatever music is on stage during her individual presentation. She also likes to match her hair to her suit. She’s dramatically improved her physique over the year but was sweating up a storm and clearly not feeling well once the comparison rounds went on. She confirmed that she was sick and not feeling 100% she should finish in the top five thought.

Ton Perdikakis not at her best and needed to be a bit tighter in her legs, as she has in the past. Christi Torborg a bit too big in this division and will need to streamline her physique for future shows to be a contender. Erin Lawson made the switch from Fitness to Women’s Physique and it suits her well. She needs a bit more muscle and come in more conditioned but she has potential to be a contender. Nekole Hamrick looks like should could be as high as second but likely third or fourth in her pro debut. She turned pro at last weekend’s North Americans and has to be happy with her call-outs.

Finals take place at 3:30pm EST on Saturday. Check back for complete results from the show. You can see prejudging photos on NPCnewsonline.com.

2012 IFBB Valenti Gold Cup Women’s Pro Preview

The IFBB Valenti Gold Cup is the last chance to qualify for the Olympia in every division except for Bikini and Women’s Bodybuilding (which has no remaining shows before the Olympia). Bikini has one more shot next weekend in St.Louis and Women’s but let’s focus on this show. This is the first time Patricia Valenti has held a show in Sarasota and she’s rolling out the red carpet for it. The IFBB show will have all divisions with the exception of open men & women’s bodybuilding. It will also showcase a number of NPC Hardbody men and women in the amateur event. Each of the pro divisions is very competitive. Let’s break it down.

HARDBODY 411

FIGURE
The figure competition is very competitive and there are a couple of women in the line up are hoping to land in the top five to gain more points in the Olympia Qualification Series. Erin Stern and Candice John are both qualified for the Olympia so the pressure is off them to qualify. The odds on favorite has to be Erin Stern. She added another win to her competition resume by taking top honors at the 2012 Australian Pro. I can’t see her losing this show unless she’s way off and we haven’t seen that from Erin since she was a rookie…many moons ago. Candice John has refined her physique and really come into her own but she’ll have her hands full to finish in the top three here. Look for Andrea Cantone to be in the mix as she’s been consistent this year with her conditioning and in the running for an Olympia qualification via the new points system. Aleisha Hart went back to the drawing board after her showing in Tampa and look for her to come in much tighter and improved from that show. The question is, will it be enough to place in the top ranks in this highly competitive show? Catherine Holland will look to get back in the mix of things but she too will have her work cut out for her. Tatiana Koshman made her IFBB Pro debut in Dallas and finished in third. She packs quite a bit of muscle but carries it well. If she brings down the backside muscle just a bit she’ll be a contender. There wasn’t much time to do any changes since Dallas but the only thing that could hold her back is her muscularity. The Dallas line up was a different looks with the physiques in the show, so we’ll see how she compares in this line up. Kamla Macko is my x-factor in this show and I think she could shake things up. She’s taller and has an athletic looking physique. She finished in 5th at the Tampa Pro in her pro debut and I look for her to be in the top spots here.

BIKINI
The Bikini division could go a number of ways. We have women in the line up already qualified for the Olympia and others who are trying to lock in a high enough placing to land in the top Olympia Qualification Series. We also have rookie debuts that could shake things up. Who are the contenders? I like Juliana Daniell and Yeshair Robles’ physiques. They both have athletic looks and they present with class and a little bit of sexiness without being over the top. If I were a judge (and let’s be clear I’m not) these two at their best are in my top 5 in the Olympia. Tianna Ta is already qualified and will look to build some momentum heading into the big show. She’ll need to come in full on the bottom, without being too lean in the abs and relaxed with her posing. Marcela Tribin landed in the point totals at the Tampa Pro with a different line-up. She’s have a much tougher time this show. Lacey DeLuca will make her pro debut after lighting up the amateur stage. Ron has her winning the show and I don’t have her in my top five. Which way will the judges go? Vida Guerra will look to redeem herself after her California Pro debut. If she can bring back the look and posing she had in Chicago when she turned pro she’ll move up. Adriana Hill has the looks but needs to up her energy on stage to move up into the mix. Aniedra Lynn is making her pro debut but might be carrying too much muscle for this line up. Lexi Kaufman moved up to 6th at the Pittsburgh Pro after debuting at the Bikini International. I like her look and the energy she brings to the stage.  It’s a tough show that could go a number of different ways.

FITNESS
The Fitness division is my favorite in any show. This is a great group or routines and the fans in attendance will be in for a treat. Myriam Capes, Ryall Graber-Vasani and Camala Rodriquez are all qualified for the Olympia. Allison Ethier, Kizzy Vaines and Vanda Hadarean are all hoping to finish in the top five an collect enough points to head to the Olympia.

The Fitness division is judged by their physiques and their routines. Nearly two years ago the IFBB Pro League changed the scoring in Pro Fitness. The physique is to be 1/3 on the score (two-piece swimsuit) and 2/3 of the score will be the 2-minute Fitness Routine. The 2-minute fitness routine scores will be doubled.

Here’s how I would rank my top five in this line up for Physique…
1. Camala Rodriquez
2. Ryall Graber-Vasani
3. Myriam Capes
4. Tiffany Robinson
5. Vanda Hadarean

In Routines I would go:
1. Myriam Capes
2. Vanda Hadarean
3. Kizzy Vaines
4. Jackyln Sutton-Abrams
5. Camala Rodriquez

So where does that leave us? Great question. When the prejudging is finished we’ll have an idea of who is in the lead but it’s not indicative of the final outcome. Someone who is outside of the top 5 in physique could have an amazing routine and be in the top spots. Regardless of where any of these women finish, I’m glad to see them all take the stage as it’s the one division where people can all agree, it’s entertaining and amazing to watch.

WOMEN’S PHYSIQUE
The Women’s Physique division is one that has consistently showcased a variety of physiques. This weekend will be no different. Karina Nascimento has to be the favorite as she’s been victorious in the division already. The judges will have apples and orange in front of them when it comes the the differences in physiques and they’ll be tasked with finding a happy medium amongst the group.

The Final Stretch: Olympia Qualification Series Breakdown

The IFBB PRO League introduced a new “Olympia Qualification Series” in March of this year and now is when things get very interesting. We have three shows remaining for Figure, two for Bikini and one for Fitness. The Women’s Bodybuilding qualifications and field is set. Since this is the first year for the IFBB Women’s Physique division, no points were kept. We’ll see if it’s added next year but that’s a conversation for another time. Let’s review the points-based system and how it works.

You win an IFBB Pro show and you’re in the Olympia. If you’ve already qualified for the Olympia and win a show, there is no “bump down” to second place. The new system awards points to competitors placing in 2 to 5 spots. These points are awarded at all IFBB Pro League competitions. The five competitors with the highest point totals will qualify to compete in the Olympia. No points are awarded for first, since they automatically qualify. Those placing in the top five at the Olympia will automatically qualify for the following year.

SHOWS & RESPECTIVE POINTS AWARDED
TIER 1 – ARNOLD CLASSIC

2nd – 8 Points
3rd – 7 Points
4th – 6 Points
5th – 5 Points

TIER 2 – SHERU CLASSIC, ARNOLD CLASSIC EUROPE

2nd – 6 Points
3rd – 5 Points
4th – 4 Points
5th – 3 Points

TIER 3 – NEW YORK PRO
2nd – 5 Points
3rd – 4 Points
4th – 3 Points
5th – 2 Points

TIER 4 – ALL OTHER IFBB PRO LEAGUE COMPETITIONS
2nd – 4 Points
3rd – 3 Points
4th – 2 Points
5th – 1 Point

It’s important to note the tier levels and points. In an event of a tie, it is my understanding the IFBB Pro League will then evaluate the tied competitors and base the tie breaker on highest finished in given show. Example: if to women are tied and Competitor A finished in second at the New York Pro but competitor B finished in 3rd at the Chicago Pro… Competitor A would win the tie breaker by finishing higher.

FITNESS
Let’s start with the easiest one to follow. Fitness currently has 11 women qualified for the Olympia. This weekend’s IFBB Valenti Gold Cup has 9 competitors currently in the line-up. A third of those women are already qualified for the Olympia. Let’s assume those three women finish in the top three spots. That leaves 2 points to one competitor and one to another. Myriam Capes, Camala Rodriquez & Ryall Graber-Vasani are in the Fitness Olympia but will they go 1-2-3 this weekend? That’s the million dollar question and one a few women are hoping doesn’t happen.

POSITION – NAME – POINTS

1 Ruban, Danielle 7
2 Harris, Fiona 6
3 Hadarean, Vanda 4
3 Vaines, Kizzy 4
5 Ethier, Allison 3
6 Bruce, Sonja 1
6 Frederick, Melissa 1
6 Sutton-Abrams, Jacklyn 1

Danielle Ruban and Fiona Harris are in given their current points. Even if the women below them in point were to snag 4 points, they would still remain in the top five. So let’s put those two aside and breakdown who in the top points are ones to watch. Vanda Hadarean & Kizzy Vaines are tied for the 3 & 4th place positions with 4 points. If either woman finishes in the top five they are pretty much in, not guaranteed but the odds are in their favor. Next is Allison Either sitting in 5th with 3 points. If she can land in the top 5 she should secure her spot. If not she could be on the outside looking in however it’s a long shot that it would happen. Sonja Bruce and Melissa Frederick are not slated to compete. That leaves rookie Jacklyn Sutton-Abrams with one point. If Jacklyn can finish in 3rd or higher she’s in. If she finishes in 4th and ahead of Allison in this show they would tie however Allison would win the tie breaker because she has a 4th place finish at the St. Louis Pro Fitness. Unless someone not listed placings in 2nd or 3rd this will be the scenario for the remaining 3 spots in the Qualification Series.

BIKINI:
This one gets a little tougher to breakdown since there are  two shows remaining before the Olympia. The Valenti Gold Cup this weekend and the St. Louis Pro next weekend. The points could change for the Bikini division based on how things play out this weekend but as of current standings here’s what we’re looking at for possible contenders to finish in the top 5 points.

POSITION – NAME – POINTS

1 Chapman, Jennifer 13
2 Robles, Yeshaira 10
3 Munro, Justine 8
3 Maleton, Dayna 8
3 Matheny, Taylor 8
6 Tribin, Marcela 5

As it stands today Jennifer Chapman and Yeshaira Robles are locks for the Bikini Olympia an I can’t see either of them getting bumped out of the top five. That leaves Justine Munro, Dayna Maleton and Taylor Matheny in a three way tie fore the remaining spots. None of these three are entered in this weekend’s Valenti Gold Cup so their points look to stand at 8 heading into next week’s final show. That leaves Marcela Tribin as the X-factor in the current equation. Marcela is currently in 6th place with 5 points. If she finishes in second or third she would be in the Olympia. The other factor to remember in this equation are the women who are already qualified and in the show. Juliana Daniell and Tianna Ta are both qualified and contender for the top five this weekend. One other scenario that could play out are the rookies in this show. Should they or someone else finish in second this weekend they could set themselves up for an Olympia birth by matching that finish next week in St. Louis… two runner-up finishes would put them at 8 points and give them the nod in the tie-breaker. More to come on this division after this weekend.

FIGURE:
This is definitely the most interesting division to follow in the point series with a number of scenarios in play. There are three IFBB Figure shows taking place this weekend. We can rule out The IFBB Nordic Pro as none of the competitors will effect the outcome of the Olympia Qualification Series. Some one new will head to the Olympia but again that won’t change the points because even with 4 points there isn’t another show to move up.

POSITION – NAME – POINTS

1 Frahn, Allison 8
2 Waples, Natalie 7
2 Reis, Larissa 7
4 Brown, Cheryl 5
4 Cantone, Andrea 5
6 Hart, Aleisha 4
6 Montoya, Tamara 4
6 Sheppard, Kimberly 4
6 Haldeman, Mallory 4
10 Koshman, Tatiana 3

We can take Tamara Montoya out of the equation as she will not be competing this weekend in either show. Currently, Cheryl Brown is tied for fourth however is not slated to compete. This would keep her at 5 points however given the number of women in the top 10 that are competing this weekend, it would most likely not be enough to keep her in the mix. Allison Frahn enters the weekend as the point leader with 8. It looks like it WILL be enough to keep her in the the top five even if she finishes out of the top 5 at the Tournament of Champions. So that leaves 8 as the magic number. If you match that you’re in. Enter Natalie Waples and Larissa Reis. Both women sit at 7 points and tied for second. If either of the two finish in the top five they will be in. Even with a fifth place finish it would give one of them 1 point which would be enough to stay in the top 5 points. If either of them finish out of the top five (or both) they could still be in the mix but it gets more complicated. Andrea Cantone is next in the point total, currently sitting in 4th with five points. Andrea has a bit of an advantage over the other women as she will be competing at the Valenti Cup where there are fewer in the hunt for points. If she finishes in the top five then she’ll get points but she will need to be in the top three to lock in enough points.

Now this is where things get really interesting. Aleisha Hart, Mallory Haldeman and Kim Sheppard are tied for sixth. If either of them finish fifth or higher they will bump Cheryl Brown out of the mix. If they want a guaranteed spot in the Olympia they would need to finish in second, which would move the point total to 8 and guarantee a trip to the Olympia. A third place finish would give put them at 7 and a much stronger chance of getting in. Aleisha has a bit of an advantage as she is in the Valenti Cup and facing fewer in the top points totals. The long shot but still mathmatically possible to make it in is Tatianna Koshman. She is in 10th place with 3 points. If she finishes in second she would likely get in the Olympia with 7 points and the second place being an advantage in a tie breaker. If she is third or fourth there is still a chance albeit a slim one given the other scenarios.

The longest of all shots are with Kamala Macko and Tivisay Briceno. They both sit with one point and would need finish in second to have any chance at qualifying and even then 5 points will likely not be enough. Oh and two important women to note that will definitely play a role in how things shake out. Erin Stern is competing at the Valenti Cup and Teresa Anthony is in the Tournament of Champions. Both will will undoubtedly finish in the top five and are the favorites to win heading into the weekend.

Follow all of that?  HA!

HARDBODY will be covering both shows and keep you updated on how things play out.

2012 Toronto Supershow Bodybuilding, Bikini, Physique, Fitness Results

The ladies took the stage on Friday to kick off the 2012 IFBB Toronto Pro. It was nearly a clean sweep in all the divisions but Pollianna Moss disrupted that in Bikini. Pollianna took top honors in her IFBB debut and a win that few saw coming. Lisa Giesbrecht was victorious in impressive fashion in the women’s bodybuilding division while Kim Tilden edged out fellow Canadian CeaAnna Kerr for her first win in the Women’s Physique division. Kim made the switch from Figure and it proved to be the right move. Jodi Boam successfully defended her title in the Fitness division but she had some stiff competition in the fitness round from Vanda Hadarean.

A complete report of each division will be posted soon. Check out complete results and for photos visit www.npcnewsonline.com.

IFBB Toronto Pro Super Show – Hardbody Preview

This weekend the women of the IFBB will head to Toronto Canada for the Toronto Pro Super Show. This three day even begins on Friday and lasts through Sunday. The Women’s Bodybuilding, Fitness, Bikini and Physique will take place on Friday and the Figure will be held on Saturday. All three days will feature an Expo and various events throughout the day. The Bikini division is one of the deepest line-ups of the year and one of the most competitive we’ve seen. Each division will have a few seasoned veterans to the stage alongside some promising rookies.

The competition will be fierce in each division and the judges will have their work cut out for them. Fitness will be dominated by Canadian competitors and defending Champ Jodi Boam is in the lineup with a target on her back. Look for Fiona Harris & Danielle Ruban to make a run at dethroning the champ. One dark horse in this line up is Jacklyn Sutton-Abrams. This is her IFBB Pro debut and riding high after overall wins at the NPC Emerald Cup and JR USA. Can she hang with the big dawgs? We’ll find out on Friday.

IFBB Pro Fitness:
Jodi Boam
Sherry Boudreau
Allison Ethier
Vanda Hadarean
Fiona Harris
Whitney Jones
Somkina Liudmila
Tiffany Robinson
Danielle Ruban
Jacklyn Sutton-Abrams
Tanis Tzavaras
Nichole Venzara

This isn’t the deepest line up for Figure we’ve seen but it will make for an interesting top five. Gen Strobo wasn’t at her best at the Pittsburgh Pro and will look to return to the winner’s circle once again. Natalie Waples has been up and down in the placings and will hope for a first call-out in this show. Look for Alesisha Hart to be in the mix for the top five and one woman to keep your eye on is rookie Jessica Farrelly. Jessica turned pro at the 2011 NPC USAs and will be making her pro debut here. She has nice shape and if she can come in tight enough look for her to have an impressive debut.

IFBB Pro Figure:
Leah Berti
Natalie Calland
Becky Clawson
Ginette Delhaes
Yolanda Esteso Sauri
Jessica Farrelly
Marie Gibbon
Aleisha Hart
Catherine Holland
Tracey MacDonald
Mona Muresan
Gennifer Strobo
Louise Rogers
Rosalind Vanterpool
Natalie Waples
Janet Lynn West

Bikini will be the toughest event of the weekend. Whoever finishes in the top five here will position themselves as the division’s elite. The odds on favorite has to be Dianna Dahlgren after her placings last year. This is her first time competing this year and if she brings a similar look to this stage that she brought to the Olympia stage, she’ll be the one to beat. Yeshaira Robles has finished in the top three at her last two shows and will look to keep that streak alive for a third time. Jessica Paxson returns to the stage once again and will look to move into that top call out. Michelle Brennan had an impressive debut at the St. Louis Pro and will be a contender once again. Leigh Brandt and Justine Munro will look for a top finish as two of the division’s first pros from Canada. As you can see from the line-up below this is a great bikini line-up.

IFBB Pro Bikini:
Natalie Abrheim
Sandy Avelar
Leigh Brandt
Michelle Brannan
Genevieve Brodeur
Jennifer Chapman
Katie Chung Hua
Dianna Dahlgren
Ashley Harbour
Dayna Maleton
Véronique Morin
Pollianna Moss
Justine Munro
Cecile Palacios
Jessica Paxson
Kristy Robbins
Yeshaira Robles
Casey Lee Trailer
Christina Vargas
Jaclyn Wilson
I expected to see more women in the bodybuilding division as it’s one of the few shows of the year. Look for Cathy LeFrancois to be the one to beat and if she shows up like she did at the Arnold, it could turn into a battle for who finishes in second.

IFBB Pro Women Bodybuilding:
Kim Buck
Laura Carolan
Laura Davies
Lisa Giesbrecht
Alevtina Goroshinskaya
Gillian Kovack
Janeen Lankowski
Cathy LeFrancois
Wendy Mccready
Frida Palmell
The Physique division will once again have a mix of bodybuilding, figure and physique competitors. Nicole Ball will be making the switch from bodybuilding to Physique and it will be interesting to see what she brings to the stage. Michelle Blank will look to redeem herself from the New York Pro finish. Kim Tilden has a look I think the judges could favor in this show. Marina Lopez gets the award for most persistent as she has entered every IFBB Pro Women’s Physique competition this year.

IFBB Pro Women’s Physique:
Nicole Ball
Debbie Barrable-Leung
Michelle Blank
Lyris Cappelle
Gloria Fauls
Amie Francisco
CeaAnna Kerr

2012 IFBB New York Pro Bikini Competitor Lists & Hardbody Preview

Twenty hardbody bikini women will take the stage at the New York Pro Championships this Saturday at the Tribecca Performing Arts Center. Looking at the line-up it is one of the toughest we’ve seen. The competition certainly doesn’t get any easier in the bikini division and I wouldn’t want to be a judge at this show. The top five at this competition will be one of the best we’ve seen just short of the Olympia and Bikini International. Let’s break down the field and go out on a limb with a few predictions.

The HARDBODY 411:
1. Jessica Arevalo – Tracey, California
This is Jessica’s pro debut. She took the B Class at the 2011 NPC Nationals and will have a tough time in her first IFBB show. Can she hang? Ya but it won’t be easy in this line-up. If she cracks the top ten she should consider it a success.

2. Sandy Avelar – British Columbia, Canada
Sandy will also be making her pro debut and nothing like jumping into the deep end of the pool, right? We’ll see how she fairs in one of the toughest shows of the year. She will be able to use this as a good tune-up before the Toronto Pro show in a couple weeks.

3. Jaime Baird – Orlando, Florida
Jaime will undoubtedly be in the first call-out. She’s positioned herself as a top bikini pro and don’t look for that to change any time soon. She didn’t seem quite herself at the Pittsburgh Pro but look for her to be on point here and in the hunt for the win. If she’s calm, cool and in her zone she could win it. I also like her make-up less dark around her eyes as it didn’t seem to fit her look at the PA Pro.

4. Abigail Burrows – Las Vegas, Nevada
Miss Abigail. The big question is which Abbie will show up to the Big Apple. When she’s got her sh*t together she’s a top contender. If she’s distracted with the things happening away from the stage it takes its toll on what she brings to the stage. She was clearly way off her best at the Bikini International. If she’s collected herself and regrouped from that showing she’ll be in the mix here, if not she’ll be on the outside looking in.

5. Juliana Daniell – Atlanta, Georgia
JD has my favorite physique in this line-up and one of my top 3 in the entire Pro Bikini division. I like the athletic look she brings to the stage and if she brings a look similar to what we saw here last year and at the Bikini International she’ll be in the top spots. Juliana’s biggest challenge is relaxing and just doing her thing. If it’s not broke don’t fix it, right? Let’s hope she brings what she did in Columbus.

6. Tawna Eubanks – Dallas, Texas
Tawna was on the outside of the top spots at the PA Pro earlier this month and will be looking for a bit of redemption. This line-up is tougher than the one we saw in Pittsburgh so if she can climb up from her 7th place finish it will be a success.

7. Diana Graham – Duvall, Washington OUT DUE TO ILLNESS
Diana will likely be in one of the top spots at this show. I don’t see her finishing higher than third but don’t count her out of a the top five. I’ve been critical of her distracting boobs and it’s a sentiment that judges have shared with me. If she can find a way to not make them a talking point and focus on her physique she’ll be in the hunt.  The boys at Getbig.com highly praise Diana for being one of the curviest competitors on the stage and always welcome her.

8. Janet Harding – Yardley, Pennsylvania
Janet is a persistent competitor. Her biggest challenge are the little details like her tanning and hair. When her hair is too big and curly it’s distracting. She’s almost never dark enough with her tan when on stage. If she can tweak those little details she’ll move up from the bottom of the pack.

9. Melinda Janiszewski – Atlanta, Georgia
Melinda had a respectable showing at the Pittsburgh Pro. If she can crack the top ten here it will be a success. She’s definitely improved her physique from what we saw in her pro debut at this show, two years ago.

10. Tabitha Klausen Leandri – Clinton, Connecticut Tabitha has withdrawn due to injury.
Tabitha can move up from her Pittsburgh 14th place finish if she takes the stage with confidence. When she presented in Pittsburgh she didn’t seem confident and she has every reason to be confident. I’d like to see her take the stage like a Victoria Secret’s Runway model. Tabitha is one of the taller competitors and she has a long torso, so for her it’s all in how she presents it. Improved presentation = improved placing for Tabitha.

11. Kristal Martin – Gaithersburg, Maryland
Kristal was at the bottom pack in her pro debut. Now that she got the first time pro jitters out of the way and knows what she needs to improve upon, look for her to present a better package. She needs a different colored suit than Pittsburgh and her physique needs to be a bit fuller. If she changes that she’ll move up.

12. Bernadett Matassa – Hungary
Bernadett rocks short blonde hair and I’m not sure it works for her. She used to have some goofy poses but she learned to leave those behind. I’d like to see her with longer hair, more relaxed posing and a bit softer in the upper body. Will we see any of that in New York? Not likely.

13. Taylor Matheny – Sand Springs, Oklahoma
Taylor has a rock’n physique and is adorable. She still struggles with her posing and in order to crack the top spots she’ll need to improve her posing. She was third at the St. Louis Pro which was a great finish for her. Placing that high her won’t be as easy. I’d like to see her tan a little darker as well. I like her look and if she can relax and polish her posing she’ll be in the hunt.

14. Heather Nappi – Novi, Michigan
Heather is coming off a 13th place finish at the Pittsburgh Pro and if she can crack the top ten here she’ll be doing good. She’s been as high as fifth but given the line up here it will be a tough placing to match. I like the look she brought to the Florida Pro to close out 2011.

15. Cecile Palacios – New York, New York
Cecile will be making her pro debut after winning the F class at the 2011 NPC Nationals. She will have to pose her body in a curvy manner as one of the taller women in the show. This will be a great test for her because if she can crack the top 10 here it will be a success.

16. India Paulino – Pembroke Pines, Florida
India has momentum on her side and the odds on favorite to two in a row. She was runner-up at the Bikini International and brought a winning look to Pittsburgh. I swear the girl is going to break a hip with her little shimmy shake she does at the end of her individual posing presentation. She can get away with it because it fits her sassy personality. Count on her to wear a yellow bikini suit because it works. India’s “assets” can also be distracting if just looking at photos but when you see her present, her attitude and presentation make you focus on her physique and not her boobs.

17. Kristy Robbins – Palm Harbor, Florida
Kristy looked good in Pittsburgh and I would have placed her higher than 9th. I would like to see her compared to the top women if she brings the same look to the stage as she did in Pittsburgh. Look for her in the top ten here and if she struts he stuff and catches the eye of the judges in the individual presentation look for her to be in the hunt.

18. Yeshaira Robles – Bronx, New York
Yeshaira has the best energy. In some poses she’s smiling and cute but then she’ll flip a switch and give you a sexy diva look. I dig it. She has the physique of a top contender, a tight booty and positioning herself as one of the leading ladies in bikini. I look for her to be in the top spots once again here.

19. Skye Taylor – Las Vegas, Nevada
Skye looked her best at the Houston Pro where she finished second. She’ll have her work cut out for her to crack the top five here but look for to be in contention if she brings a similar look.

20. Talia Terese – Vallejo, California
Talia oh Talia, which Talia will we see in New York? If the Talia we saw at the 2011 NPC USA shows up she’s top five no question. If she shows up like she did in her pro debut she won’t be in the top 10. Talia is one of the most beautiful women in the division but she has yet to find her groove as a pro. She finished in fourth at the 2011 Sacramento Pro and will have a tough time placing higher than that here but without question she can do it if she brings the USA look.

So who wins? Who finishes in the top five? As you can see the judges will have a VERY difficult time sorting this one out. It will come down to the little details like tanning, hair, posing and presentation. If everyone was 100% and presented their best physique to date I’d go with Juliana Daniell for the win however I doubt the judges will agree with me.

ISAAC’s PREDICTIONS:
1. Jaime Baird
2. India Paulino
3. Juliana Daniell
4. Yeshaira Robles
5. Talia Terese

RON’s PREDICTIONS:

2. Jaime Baird

IFBB Pittsburgh Pro Championship Results & Review

The 2012 Pittsburgh Pro Championships hosted over 50 hardbody women in fitness, figure and bikini. Women from across the globe traveled to Jim Manion’s Pittsburgh Pro Championships in hopes of qualifying for the 2012 Olympia. There were some expected results and a few surprises along the way. Canada dominated the Fitness division and left and wondering where all the US citizens were at for this show. The Figure divisions proved that if you’re not on top of your game you leave the door open for someone to sneak into the top spots. The Bikini division had some of the best physiques in the world on stage but the final results didn’t exactly play out how many thought they would before the show.

The HARDBODY Breakdown:

FITNESS REVIEW
Heading into this show Kizzy Vaines and Jodi Boam were the only two with IFBB Pro wins and we saw why once again. Jodi Boam brought an improved physique from her previous competitions at the FLEX PRO and Fitness International. She also brought back her Mortal Combat routine and it proved to be the right move. Jodi notched her second pro career win and takes some momentum into next month’s Toronto Pro where she will look to defend her title. Kizzy Vaines also brought an improved physique and routine to the stage. Kizzy’s brought blonde, almost white, hair and it helped her stand out a bit more. Some in attendance had her winning the routine round but the judges saw her as a lock for second. Fiona Harris had an impressive pro debut with her third place finish. She was a lock for third in the physique rounds and was in the middle of the pack for her routine. Danielle Ruban brought a tighter, improved physique to the stage and I really like her potential. The judges scored her third in the routine rounds and an argument could have been made (at least on my score sheet) for a spot higher. She has incredible skill and definitely one of the rising stars in the division. Allison Ethier brought her best physique and routine to date. She was in her best condition as a pro and her routine was much cleaner than before. Allison definitely brought her best package to date.

Props to the nine women who entered this show and especially the Canadian contingency. Don’t be surprised if the Fitness portion of the Pittsburgh Pro doesn’t return to the 2013 event due to the lackluster turnout. The fitness division is the most entertaining division and if we don’t see more women entering the shows we’ll see the division dropped.

FIGURE REVIEW
This show proved that if you aren’t at your best you can slip a few placings. There were a number of very bad tans and makeup jobs at this show. I’m not sure why that is but it’s definitely something that can cause a competitor to drop in their placings. When it comes to makeup there are a few things women need to remember. If you don’t know what you’re doing, don’t do your own makeup. If you hire someone make sure they have done stage makeup before because it’s different than photo shoots or other types of makeup. I’m definitely NOT a fan of the bright blue eyeshadow or matching your eyes to your suit. Many women look like clowns when they add glitter and bright eye shadow. Some of the women had a muddy look to their face and it’s very noticeable from the judge’s table despite not being able to see it in photos.

Candice John notched her first pro victory and positioned herself as a rising star in the division, despite being a pro for many years. She proved that patience and persistence pays off. Candice’s symmetry, conditioning and presentation lead to the win here. She needs to fill out her upper chest a bit but other than that she’s got a winning look. Candice was the unanimous winner on the judges score sheets. Gennifer Strobo edged out Jami DeBenard by one point for second. I had Jami ahead of Strobo at this contest as Jami was a bit more polished in her presentation and I felt her symmetry was a bit better. Gen wasn’t at her best but still held her own. The photos won’t show it but she had vascular arms in the prejudging and her makeup wasn’t my favorite. Ann Titone slipped slightly at this show in large part because of the little details. Ann looked a bit red with her tan and didn’t present with the same confidence we saw in Orlando. Rounding out the top five was Tamara Montoya. This was Tamara’s pro debut and an impressive showing her first time out. I would have had no problem with her in the top three. Keep your eye on her as she heads into The California Pro. I like the look Candice Lewis brings to the stage. She still needs to balance her legs with her upper body a bit but hey symmetry and overall look is one of the best in the division. I would have placed her in the top five but the judges had her in 7th.

BIKINI REVIEW

The top two spots played out as most people thought they would heading into the show. India Paulino continues to be a favorite with the judges and has positioned herself as a top contender in every show she enters in just her second year as a pro. India has nice skin tone and sticks with the yellow bikini because it works. She toned down her over-the-top presentation from prior shows but still throws in her hip buster at the end of her presentation. I’m not a big fan of it but it’s become her “signature pose” to end her individual presentation. It works for her personality but it wouldn’t for others. I do find her boobs slightly distracting because they are hiked up so high and smashed together, it seems a bit unnecessary. Jaime Baird didn’t seem to be at her best or at least as good as I’ve seen her before. When she posed she seemed a bit distant and not like she was living in the moment. I’ve also seen her makeup a bit better, it looked like her eyes were outlined a bit darker than in the past and it wasn’t as flattering as I’ve seen in the past. Jaime has refined her physique since competing on this stage as an amateur and always one of the top contenders. Yeshaira Robles brought an improved physique to the stage, in just her second pro show. I love the energy she possesses and you can’t help be drawn to someone who exudes a positive, confident attitude. She has just the right amount of sexiness and isn’t over the top with her presentation. Look for her to continue to be in the top spots if she brings this same look and attitude to the stage. Diana Graham was one point behind Yeshaira for the fourth place spot. I continue to be distracted by Diana’s boobs and feel they are keep her from moving into the winner’s circle. Let’s not confuse this with me being a hater or someone who dislikes large breasts, I’m not. I’ve talked with several judges who tell me the exact same thing… her boobs throw her symmetry off. She has a good physique and if she can find away to conceal them differently with her hair or the suit it won’t be such an issue. Remember just an opinion but one shared by many others, so don’t shoot the messenger. Marcela Tribin rounded out the top five in her pro debut. She’s a beautiful woman however I’d like to see her lower body improve before putting her in the top five. There were a number of women I felt could have been in the top five but it speaks to how the division is getting more and more competitive.

Kristy Robbins was in 9th but brought her best look to date, I would have her higher. Tawna Eubanks was in seventh and I would have placed her in the top five at this show. She has a nice bikini body and one of the best booties in the division.

2012 IFBB Pittsburgh Pro Competitor Lists & Preview

2012 NPC Pittsburgh Bodybuilding, Fitness, Figure, Bikini & Physique Championships & IFBB Pittsburgh Pro Bikini, Figure & Fitness will take place this weekend and it’s shaping up to be a record breaking event.

The NPC show is one of the only national qualifiers where you will be judged by head NPC and IFBB judges. It looks to be a record breaking event with over 275 competitors entered. Those in attendance will see champion bodybuilders Phil Heath, Jay Cutler, Dexter Jackson, Branch Warren Kai Greene, Dennis Wolfe, and more guest pose at the night show. A number of vendors will be on hand providing supplement samples at the venue.

Prejudging begins at 9 a.m. on Saturday May 5, 2012.

Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hall & Museum Trust
4141 Fifth Avenue
Pittsburgh, PA 15213

HARDBODY 411:
This is a great group of women and each division will be highly competitive. The winner of each division will receive an Olympia invite and the top five will collect points towards a trip to the Olympia.

FITNESS:
Despite the low turn out we should see some entertaining routines. I look for Danielle Ruban to be in the top spot for the 2-piece round with Jodi Boam leading the way in the routines. Whitney Jones will be making her pro debut and will be looking for an Olympia birth the first time out of the gate. Another new-comer is Fiona Harris who competed at the 2012 Arnold Amateur earlier this year. Kizzy Vaines and Boam are the only competitors with a pro win in this line-up. The women of Canada stepped up for this show and props to them for competing. If more women don’t enter future shows, promoters will no longer add the division to their shows.

7. Kizzy Vaines (United Kingdom)
8. Nikki Venzara (Orlando, Florida)
9. Sheri Vucick (Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington)

FIGURE:
The top five here will be competitive. Look for Jamie DeBenard, Candice John, Gennifer Strobo an Ann Titone to be leading the way. I like Chikondi Mseka and Candice Lewis’ physiques and would like to see them compared in that first call-out. If I was a gambling man, I’d put my wager on that being your top six but we’ll have to see if there is a dark horse who can shake things up this weekend.

BIKINI:
This is going to be a very competitive show with leading ladies Jaime Baird and India Paulino as the odds on favorites to take top honors. Look for Tawna Eubanks and Diana Graham to be compared to them in the first call-out. A couple dark horses who could come in and shake things up in their pro debuts… Kristal Martin and Crystal Matthews. Both of these women are taller and have a fresh look. Martin will have one of the best booties in the bikini line-up. Tabitha Klausen and Yeshaira Robles will also be ones to watch at a top five finish. Marcela Tribin has stunning good looks however will have a battle to hang with the top five here. If she crack the top 10 in her pro debut it will be a success. Candy Agundez informed me that she would not be competing in this show.

Who do you think will win the divisions?

IFBB Florida Pro Bikini Results & Review

The IFBB Florida Pro Bikini show marked the end of the 2011 competition season. Promoter, Jarka put on a first class event and offered some of the top prize money of the year. Florida’s own India Paulino was victorious for the second time her in her pro career. The win capped off an impressive end to her season. Check out the competition photos here.

The Hardbody take on the competition…

1. India Paulino - India was many people’s pick to win heading into the show and she proved them right. She has nice skin tone and a nice physique for the division. At times she still appears a little nervous on stage and can make some scrunchy faces while on stage. I’m still not a fan of the nearly hip popping tick-tock pose she does followed by a giddy up kick but it works for her. If other women tried doing this it wouldn’t work. India has positioned herself as one of the top bikini pros in the game today.

2. Tianna Ta - Tianna brought her best look as a pro to the stage and it helped her lock in second place. The struggle with Tianna is that she is often more conditioned on her upper body than she is in her lower body. When she turns around she tends to be soft and not have much of a butt. She nailed her posing this time and I liked the more glamorous hair and presentation. Tianna achieved her goal of qualifying for the Olympia with her finish here. I’d like to see her bring a booty to the 2012 stage.

3. Juliana Daniell - Juliana has one of the more athletic bikini bodies and model potential to go go with it. She’s gone from the middle of the pack last year to a standout this year. She has the potential to be a top contender in every show however I didn’t have her in my top three. Juliana was a little softer at this show than previous shows and I felt her lower abs and booty needed to be a bit tighter. She’ll return to the Olympia stage with her placing here.

4. Jennifer Chapman - Jennifer wasted no time getting into the hunt of the pro ranks and made her presence known. She turned pro just three weeks ago and in her pro debut notched a top five finish. I had Jennifer in the top five and many wouldn’t argue if she was in the top three. She posed with class and did so with ease. Definitely a solid pro debut.

5. Heather Nappi - Heather finished back in the top five matching her pro debut finish from Ft. Lauderdale. I’d like to see her hair pulled away from her neck a bit more and ditch the foam padding in her suit top. She has a good bikini body and has improved since turning pro earlier this year. A top five finish is a great way to finish the year.

6. Yeshaira Robles - Yeshaira was one of my picks heading into the show to crack the top five. She has the looks and the body to do so but will need to work on her lower body a bit more to hang in the pro ranks. That said I like her look and this being just her first pro show, look for her to be in the hunt next year.

7. Brittany Tacy - Brittany has an athletic physique that many women are found of. It’s pretty much a given that most men will be fans of a physique but when women are, then you’re on to something. I would have Brittany higher than 7th and the one thing I think hurt her was her tan. She was a little too light in color and under the bright lights she looked washed out. She has more than held her own since turning pro at USAs this summer.

8. Missy Coles - Missy was another competitor plagued with being a little too light with their tan at this show. Missy’s placings have been all over the board this year and I attribute it to the competition getting tougher as the division evolves.

9. Kim DeArcangelis - This marked Kim’s second pro show and she needed to be a bit tighter in the booty to crack the top five. I’d like to see her rock the stage with a little more confidence as it appeared as if she was over-thinking while hitting her poses.

10. Brittany Gaylord -
This was the best Brittany has looked since returning to the stage. She has an 8 month old baby at home and proved that you can accomplish anything you put your mind to. She improved with each show and has a nice bikini physique. I would have placed her a bit higher here and just needed a bit darker tan.

11. Theresa Byrne – This was the first time we’ve seen Theresa on stage since her pro debut, which was over a year ago. She changed up her hair color and I personally like the lighter hair. She has a great physique however it was a little too much muscle and too conditioned for this show. If she’s able to strip some of the muscle away she could move up into a top spot.

12. Figen Oezdemir - Figen calls Germany home and held her own in this, her pro debut. I thought she had the best booty in the entire show and it may have been a little too much booty for the judges’ liking. Her suit bottoms did appear a little too small but overall she had a respectable pro debut.

13. Bernadett Matassa - I would have placed Bernadett a bit higher as I liked the look she brought to the stage. She’s improved her posing and in this show I would have her in the top ten.

13. Yenny Polanco - Yenny definitely has the sass and energy part down. This was the first we’ve seen Yenny compete in the bikini division and she made a few rookie competitor mistakes. Her tanning was a bit off and she had an ash look to her. She also had glitter all over her body at both the prejudging and night show. It was totally distracting as was her anklets. You could tell she was having fun and she could move up if she corrects some of her presentation mistakes.

15. Khanh Nguyen -
I wouldn’t have Khanh at the bottom of the pack on my scorecard. Khanh always has a nice physique on stage and the only thing I noticed was she needed a little more confidence and energy on stage.

After the show concluded, Jarka treated everyone to a top notch meal at the host hotel. This event was well produced and the competitors, special guests, media and judges were treated with first class accommodations. It was definitely a great way to end the competitive season.

2011 IFBB Florida Pro Bikini Preview & Poll

The final IFBB Pro show is just days away and it’s shaping up to be a hotter than the Miami temps. This weekend several IFBB Pro Bikini competitors will share the stage with some of bodybuilding’s biggest legends. Despite the name of the show being “World Masters” don’t be confused – the women are not master’s competitors. The favorite on many people’s predictions (until a weekend ago) was third place Olympia finisher, Dianna Dahlgren. She has since withdrawn from the competition due to illness.

A case could be made for a number of women in this line up to crack the top three. This show is significant because it is the last show where the top three women will be qualified to compete in the 2012 Olympia. Next year a new rule has be adopted where only the first place finisher will be qualified to compete in the Olympia. So who will crack the top three and get a piece of the $20,000 purse? Let’s break it down.

The Hardbody 411:
Theresa Bryne - We haven’t seen Theresa on stage since her pro debut at the 2010 Sacramento Pro. She cleaned house while she was in the NPC ranks with wins at the NPC USA and Emerald Cup. She had a less than stellar finished (9th) in her debut so we’ll have to see what she brings to the stage and if she can improve upon that.

Jennifer Chapman - Props to Jennifer on wasting no time getting into the pro ranks. She’ll be making her pro debut after turning pro just a few weeks ago on the same stage at the NPC Nationals. Jennifer has streamlined her physique and found her groove. She’s coming off the high of turning pro and will look to continue it here. This will be her 7th show of the year and as long as she didn’t fall off the wagon with her diet since turning pro, she’ll be a contender.

Missy Coles - Missy has been up and down in her placings and has gone from second to 16th. She managed to fix the tanning issues she had in the past, which hindered her in some shows. It’s hard to say where she will finish in this line up as she could be in the top callout or in one of the last ones. I’d probably have her in the second call-out in this group.

Juliana Daniell - Juliana found her stride early this year and has risen to one of the more popular bikini pros. She has an athletic physique and when she isn’t over-thinking her posing she’s on the money. I like the package she brings to the stage and if she brings the look she did to Pittsburgh and New York you’ll see her in the top spots.

Kim DeArcangelis - Kim has found success off the stage as a lawyer and will look to bring some of that fierceness to the stage this weekend. She made her pro debut at this year’s Iowa Pro where she finished 8th. It will be tough for her to crack the top five here but never rule anything out. As long as she poses in a relaxed manner she’ll be able to hang in this line up.

Brittany Gaylord - Brittany has continued to improve and refine her physique since making a return to the stage. Brittany competed in the Fitness division (under her maiden name Brittany Thorsch) before taking time off to have a child. She finished 9th at the Sacramento Pro and will look to crack the top 10 again here in hopes of sliding into the top five.

Bernadett Matassa – Bernadett toned down her posing and it helped move up at the Ft. Lauderdale Cup. I’m not sure the short hair works for her but she has a nice physique. We’ll see if she can move up into the top 10 for the first time here.

Heather Nappi - Heather had a strong pro debut with a 5th place finish but then slipped to 10th at the Iowa Pro. This will be her third show as a pro and will look to return to the top callout. She can do it but this is a pretty tough line up. I see her right on the bubble and could potentially be in the top five.

Khanh Nguyen - Khanh is back and she’ll look to crack the top five here. She was one of the first masters competitors awarded in the bikini division and she has a great physique. The issue with Khanh is out of her hands. She comes in consistently in shape and presents herself well. It’s simply that the competition has continued to improve and each show she enters featured stiffer competition than the last. This will be her fifth show of the year. She’s coming off a 13th place finish at the Iowa Pro.

Figen Oezdemir - Figen is a competitor I’m not familiar with other than she calls Germany home. It’s always a crap shoot with competitors competing in the USA for the first time. Many times the competitors do what their countries ask of them however it doesn’t always fit the USA model. We’ll see what she brings to the stage in what I believe is her pro debut.

India Paulino - India is coming off a win at the Ft. Lauderdale Cup. She was at her all-time best, at least in my opinion, when she placed 6th. She’s the one to beat at this show and I look for her to collect another first place check. The only thing that makes me laugh and cringe is the ending of her individual posing. I swear she is going to break a hip if she snaps the “tick-tock” back and forth any harder. She follows it with a lil giddy up kick. It fits her sassy personality though so she’s able to get away with it where most women couldn’t.

Yeshaira Robles – Yeshaira is my dark horse who could shake things up in this show. She won her class and was my pick for the overall at this year’s Team Universe competition. This will be her pro debut and will have one of the best bikini booties in the show. If she can present with poise and confidence look for her to make a name of herself in the pro ranks.

Tianna Ta - Tianna has improved greatly from a year ago. The challenge she has is being lean on the upper body but not tight enough in her lower body, particularly when she turns to the back. She’s found her groove with her posing and now if she can bring a tight booty to the stage she could be in the hunt for a top spot. This will be her 6th show of the year and her highest finish was 4th. She’s coming off a 6th place finish at the Iowa Pro.

Brittany Tacy - Brittany has an athletic physique and a great look for the bikini division. This will be her third pro show since reaching pro status at the NPC USA this summer. She narrowly missed the top 3 at the Titans Grand Prix where she finished 4th. Look for Brittany in the first call-out and posing it out for a top three finish.
